A JOINT operation by the Thai police and US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Secret Service smashed a call centre gang operating from Thailand that has defrauded American citizens out of over US$3 billion, Naewna newspaper said.

A CHINESE woman and her brother who were ransom kidnapped by their compatriots in Chonburi yesterday (Mar. 20) after dropping off her son to school have still not been released even though over 24 hours have passed since their abduction but police are chasing the criminals, Naewna newspaper said.

Russian man faces deportation after nearly 3 years of overstaying visa

On Koh Pha Ngan in the Gulf of Thailand, a 34 year old Russian man has been arrested for overstaying his legal visa conditions by 993 days, 3 months shy of 3 years. Legally, the man was entitled to a 45 day visa exemption on arrival, although his pre-overstay visa situation has not been disclosed.

Search for a missing trawler crew continues in the Gulf off Chumphon
