Any issues using Lao eVisa at Mukdahan-Savannakhet?

Featured Replies

Another thread commenting on Lao eVisa at the Nongkhai/Vientiane bridge suggests that foreign eVisa holders can't ride the Udon Thani/Vientiane bus, only allowed if they have already have a visa in their passport.

Since I will be self-propelling myself to Mukdahan, can anyone confirm if there are any issues crossing there on an eVisa? I recall one needs to ride a bus over the river to Lao immigration so do they allow eVisa riders?

Thanks,

NL

you wait at the border until the regular bus comes to pick you up and take you across the bridge. you can also take a cross border bus from the bus station.

I came across on Monday,  at the bridge pickup, no problem, and the eVisa was a breeze....No queueing. Just take the evisa printout to the usual visa application window, they will do the stamp, think charged 100bht, then you walk straight out past everyone, just show the guy at the desk outside..

The bus from Mukdahan to Savannakhet could always be used by people who don't have a visa, but there was no guarantee that it waited for you on the Lao side long enough to get your visa on arrival, so you might have needed to wait for the next one.

With an eVisa, it shouldn't be a problem to catch the same bus again.
