An 18 year old man died in hospital yesterday after two hooligans threw stones at him while he was riding a motorcycle on a road in the southern province of Satun.

The teenage victim, Kullatat “Folk” Tohem, was rushed to hospital on Sunday, April 2 with a serious head injury after two hooligans threw stones at him. The young man was being treated for injuries in hospital until he passed away yesterday afternoon. According to his relatives, Folk suffered brain damage and did not respond to treatment.

The two hooligans, Fasol Tonyalae and Natthakit Dorla, surrendered at Mueang Satun Police Station on Tuesday, April 4. Fasol denied all allegations but was temporarily imprisoned for 12 days before he faces a court date. Natthakit’s situation is more delicate because he is a teenager.

The pair were initially charged with violating Section 297 of the Criminal Law by committing bodily harm causing severe injury to the victim. The punishment will be imprisonment from six months to 10 years and a fine of 10,000 to 200,000 baht.

A teen ager yet old enough to kill. Treat him as an adult; make him wai and pay 500 baht and do a few days in orange robes. Oh, draft him too.

Maybe they should have a new law that if anyone under 18 kills someone together with someone over 18, the younger gets a lesser sentence but the reduced years are added to the adults sentence for 'influence'. So if you knock 30 years off a 35 year child sentence, the influencing adult now get 65 years.

Sounds reasonable.

I think he meant it's easier to hit a car, bigger target.

There are some mistakes you make in life that are irreversible. Throwing a small stone is a mistake. Throwing a rock that size is a malicious intent to kill or maim. Regardless of age, this was NOT an accident. This was pre-meditated murder. Pure and simple.

The punishment will be imprisonment from six months to 10 years and a fine of 10,000 to 200,000 baht.

It should be 20 years to life, and a fine of 20 million baht. Cripple the kids families. Make them suffer. Bankrupt them, take their home, property, cars and make them suffer, as the family of this kid will suffer. They failed. They raised a murderer. Man up, make a statement and demonstrate that serious crime is taken seriously.

"The offender’s wife even claimed that her husband threw the stone at Folk to protect himself."

That makes no sense at all.

Reading the linked article it seems there's more to the story than just two randomly throwing stones bricks at strangers driving by on scooters.
