snoop1130
BANGKOK, April 10 (TNA) – The Election Commission (EC) apologized to eligible voters who experienced dusruption when they registered online for advance voting before the deadline. The disruption was caused by high traffic as the large number of Thais rushed to apply for advance voting on the last day of the registration on Sunday, said the EC’s secretary-general Sawaeng Boonmee. The system was capable of serving 4,000 people per second, according to the Interior Ministry’s registration office. Andycoops
Another Thai government technology failure, surely 0.0 instead of the much touted 4.0 which seems along way off...
herfiehandbag
Apologies are all very well, but did they remedy or extend the deadline, or were people left simply unable to vote? One of the features of Thai society and elections are the large numbers of people who work "away from home" for extended periods. They are very often from province's where support for the principal opposition parties is strong. Coincidentally they are those for whom registering is problematic. bradiston
4000 people per second? 14m per hour! The entire electorate in 4 hours. That's going some. Complete cobblers of course. More like it has a capacity of 4000 hits per second. Doesn't mean you get anywhere after that. Maybe the first 20 get lucky. Where's the Minister of Digital Doo Dah when you need him. Next thing we hear, the whole database has been hacked and sold, or gifted, to interested parties. 1

Isn't it registration for pre-poll voting NOT actual voting? Edited April 11, 2023 by dinsdale

Purdey
Why do Thai officials insist on proving their ineptness at every opportunity. Personally, I blame the low education of many officials, who are also poorly paid but work only for the health insurance and pension.
