British Lawyer In Phuket Recommendation?

Recommended Posts

So looks like there's no recommendations. So - all you Brits on the island, what do you do about wills - especially if you have assets in more than one country ?

If you have assets in different countries, you need to set up a trust. You can use a lawyer in the UK to do this.

If you don't, on your death, probate will have to be done in each country and the executor of the will, will have to hire a lawyer in each separate country to do it.

Go talk to Sam Fauma at the International Law office in Patong. It is located just ourside the entrance to the Patong Condotel.

Is he actually a qualified lawyer?

Hallo Chicken Curry,

I think you will have a problem to find a "British" lawyer in Thailand. Some jobs (amongst them lawyers) are exclusively reserved for Thai citizen. So no foreigner can "officially" be a lawyer. The best you can find is a law office with a foreign "Legal Adviser" and a Thai citizen as the official lawyer.

Friedrich "Sam" Fauma has his office in Phuket town now. In Patong only a branch. He is (I think) Austrian but speaks good English and Thai. But be aware quite expensive (charges per hour). Enquire beforehand!

Can highly reccommend Sam, had to use him a few months back regarding buisiness issues here in phuket.

The first consultation was free ( about 30 mins ) he agreed it was worth keeping a record in case it would be required later, one more visit was required . This was around an hour and cost the princley sum of 1500 Baht.

20 quid for an hour thought was exellent

The guy at Phuket-Law.com helped me with my will. Jason King was his name. A nice young English lawyer located on Ratuthid rd in Patong.. I think they also did real estate or tours or something as well. He is the only foreigner I saw in their, so he is easy to spot.
