Caretaker Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who also holds the position of defence minister, has emphasised his commitment to offering army conscripts chances for educational, occupational, and character development, in order to become contributing members of society.

Sharing his thoughts with the press following a Cabinet gathering yesterday, PM Prayut expressed satisfaction upon discovering that certain areas of the military had witnessed a higher number of volunteer enlistments than necessary this year.

He reiterated the crucial role that enlisted personnel play in every level of the military hierarchy, from squads, platoons, and companies to battalions, in combination with non-commissioned and commissioned officers. Sounds good, but I know someone who refuses to go into the army although he was lucky to pick a black ball,,He was summoned several times, but of course he did not show up. A few months ago he was arrested and in ail for drugs but now he is released again, but he is still walking around. We found  out that the police has to arrest him and brin him to the army, but because of the poor computersystems, the computers of different provinces are not connected and so he can not be seen in another province that he must be a soldier...And the police is not doing anything as it is no priority.... I am wondering why than the conscriptions???

Just for laughs, here is the resume of General Prayuth's British counterpart.

Chief of the General Staff,

General P N Y M Sanders KCB CBE DSO ADC GEN

Born in Tidworth Garrison military hospital and raised in Norway, Gibraltar and Iraq, General Sir Patrick Sanders was commissioned in 1986 and spent his early service as an Infantry Officer in The Royal Green Jackets in Germany, Norway and the UK. He has commanded on operations in Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan.

His staff appointments have been in operational and strategic roles. He has been a member of the Directing Staff at the Joint Staff College, Pol/Mil adviser for the Commander of Coalition Forces in Iraq in 2003-4, Colonel Army Strategy, Chief of Defence Staff’s Liaison Officer to the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Assistant Chief of Defence Staff (Operations) in the MOD.

His higher command appointments were 20 Armoured Brigade, the 3rd (UK) Division and the Field Army. He was promoted to General in May 2019 and commanded UK Strategic Command until May 2022. He became Chief of the General Staff in June 2022.

He is Colonel Commandant of The Rifles and the Honourable Artillery Company, and President of the Armed Forces Winter Sports Association. He speaks French and Norwegian, colloquial Spanish and can tell when he is being insulted in Arabic, Pashtun, Dari, Albanian and Serbo-Croat. Married to Fiona Bullen, a successful author, they have made their home in a small Wiltshire village.

(And he probably has less medals and money than Prayuth!)????

Mind you, he was a "Green Jacket" so will have made full use of contacts to get to the top - they're not known as the "Black Mafia" for nothing!

More indoctrination he means.

If the opportunities available in the army to conscripts are so lucrative then why are civilians not beating down the doors of recruitment offices to enlist rather than be conscripted in?
