Has anybody ever used a Foreign Currency account for proof of the 800k baht in Thai bank to apply for or extend a Retirement Visa at Chiang Mai  Immigration or any other Immigration Office ?

Just watch the rates and make sure it stays over 800k at the current bank exchange rate. You are playing a bit of a risky game if you do not have excess funds on deposit.

Yes have used FC accounts for many years to get my annual extension in Chiang Mai. As mentioned by others that you have to keep up with exchange rates.

Yes at Lamphun several times. Sometimes have a 'discussion' over the need or not to update it on the day, but accepted eventually without updating the balance.

Yes .but book has to be updated on day of going to immigration. And to update has to put money in.and has to be say £20 if UK account. You cant put in  say a 1000 bhat.. they won't do it. I had to go currency exchange to get the £20. And the note had to be perfect.

Would they not accept a photocopy of my UK bank Statements from my Online Banking?

I don’t have a bank book for my UK bank, they are ‘paperless’.

I am interested in this method and I appreciated the one who raised this subject and the responses.

Even if you had a bank book in UK that is not acceptable.

Thai bank account in your name only.

Funds in Thai baht or equivalent currency.
