Report Button

Featured Replies

I hope I'm not questioning moderation policies here, as it's not what I mean to do. There's just been a lot of mention of the report button recently (yes, I know a lot of that is my fault - I'll get to that later). I'm curious, so I thought this would be an ideal place to ask the mods (seemed too frivolous for forum support) - How often perday (on average) do you get a report & how's it dealt with? Does it flash up on all screens of moddies online? How do you know whether you should deal with it, or let someone else? How many times are the reports unwarranted? And what do you do in those cases? Pm the report-er? Warn them? If this is inappropriate, please close the thread. I'm just curious.

Secondly, I'm sorry for causing so much extra work for the mods over the last 24hrs. I must admit, I didn't even think of that when I posted, I was just pi$$ed off. I'm very sorry. I didn't know that mods would be put onto watch of that thread & I certainly was not criticising the mods or their actions. I think all mods, but particularly Boo & sbk do a fantastic job on that sub-forum. And I'm very grateful to sbk for her help on that other matter, earlier this week. Sorry. :o

Link me to your pissed off postings or I'll report you.

Don't worry about spitting the dummy out, everyone does it from time to time, even me if you can believe that.

Hope you're feeling better now though, flowers normally help.

Actually NR you ask an interesting question.

It's also a question the mods cannot answer , when you think about it.

I'm sure this button often helps them in their task , but they must also get a lot of "crank calls".

They can hardly say "OK guys'n'gals could you use the report button a little less".

I have used the report button , mostly for "spam" posts but occasionally for something I thought was objectionable/outrageous.

This normally disapears into the void. Maybe there is a case for some response , either "Thank you for your report" or "WassaFugginMatterWittYouNextTimeCall912OK?'.

Discussion of moderation policies as you know is against the forum rules.

As far as the report button is concerned I will say that any report flagged up to the moderators will be dealt with as soon as possible by a moderator who is on duty.
