Leaks at the connections are generally pretty easy to fix. Leaks on a copper coil are more difficult, but fixable. Leaks on an aluminum coil are fixable, but so problematic that with a home unit, you are better off replacing it.

How much will it cost to fix in pattaya? Thanks

RCA is asking me 4500 baht to fix the coil since it have gas leakage.

What is the size, brand and age of the unit?

Do you own the unit?

Did they show you where it is leaking?

Is the coil copper or aluminum?

Does the 4,500 include recharging the system and a warranty?

If you are renting, why is the landlord not paying for it?

If the coil is aluminum, it should be replaced as they are very difficult to fix. What is the warranty with the new coil?

If your rent is low, and the landlord will not pay, and you do not want to move, just get it fixed.

They told me its bcs a lot of there aircons are getting broke and they always have to fix them and it cost them a lot. But we agree on that i only have to pay 30%. One technician told me they would put a new aircon for the inside unit instead of the 5500 baht. I have seen new aircons for 6000 for the inside unit on facebook market. I don't know why my landlord dont change them since they have to maintain them all the time, they are very old. I did not ask about the warranty but i will. Yeah i will get it fixed.

Landlord probably thinks ACs are expensive, look on Lazada at TCL and send them a link, 12k BTU are under 9k baht and whisper quiet

I think they know they have been in this business for more than a decade. The unit i have is 3500 watt when the cooling is on. That takes a lot of electricity. The old ones are not specially efficient when it come to electric cost.

If you only have to pay 30%, and you plan to be in the unit a while, just buy a new unit and be done with it.

Yeah or buy water cooler 40l, but not sure if they are any good, so you have any experience with them?

Do you mean an evaporative/swamp cooler? Great in the desert or for make-up air, but the humidity is too high in Thailand for them to be effective.

Again, were it me, and I was going to stay a while, I just bite the bullet and replace it.
