Gone are the pre-Brexit days when I could get all my shopping in one supermarket. Others have the same experience, hence the news articles discussing food shortages. If there was a shortage you would not have found what you were looking for. Seems your first post today can be filed under talking %$#@@$ for effect. Take a break, go and sit in a little corner, write a list of why you think Brexit has failed. When you've done that, compare your notes with the article on Farage. You are miles apart. The fact you keep referring to what he said is laughable at best. The reason I’m referring to what Farage has said is, are you ready for this? “Nigel Farage: ‘Brexit has failed’” Is the topic of discussion. I hope that helps you understand the subject of the thread you are engaging in. 1

I have my own reasons for concluding Brexit is a failure. I agree with Farage’s conclusion, I don’t have to agree with how he came to that conclusion. ‘The UK is the only G7 nation not to have recovered its economy to its pre Pandemic level’. That in and of itself is reason to conclude Brexit has failed. 3 1

It does remain that UK GDP is still below pre-pandemic level. So even with 0.4% growth in 2023, it will still be below pre-pandemic level at the end of 2023. "Compared to the pre-pandemic level, UK GDP in Q1 2023 was 0.5% lower. This compares with Eurozone GDP being 2.5% higher than its pre-pandemic level, while US GDP was 5.3% higher. https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/sn02784/ Edited May 23, 2023 by candide 2
vinny41
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) today joined the Office for Budget Responsibility and Bank of England in admitting they were wrong to forecast the UK will suffer a tough recession this year. It previously said just last month that Britain’s economy would shrink 0.3 per cent this year, which would have put the country at the bottom of the G7 growth table. The globe’s lender of last resort in fresh forecasts hiked its gross domestic product expectations in 2023 to 0.4 per cent. The new projections mean Germany is now tipped to be the weakest economy in the group of rich nations in 2023. https://www.cityam.com/imf-ditches-uk-recession-call-and-lifts-gdp-growth-from-bottom-of-g7/

Are you calling a 1.6% or 1.7% GDP growth striving? The UK GDP growth in 2018 and 2019 was quite average, compared to Eurozone or G7. It was not in a high growth situation which may explain why it is now a laggard in catching-up. Edited May 23, 2023 by candide
