you can see all these overloaded trucks etc lining the side of the road in the late afternoon waiting till they get the all clear, have seen them many times waiting to hit the highways, the way they overload some of these trucks is that dangerous it isnt funny but it certainly is a good money winner for the police involved and they simply dont care about any consequences as long as they are paid

Thailand’s national police are launching an investigation into an alleged bribery scheme that allows cargo trucks to evade checkpoints on highways. The police chief has ordered inspectors across the country to investigate this claim and punish any officers involved.

Self inspection and investigation, yeah that always works.

Police launch probe into truck bribery scheme

Every time the police probes itself they use the same old probe rigged from one of those "bomb detectors"

This case would be the first ever to be processed by the Police Complaint Review Board

Going back to 2562?

Excerpts from "The Independent Systems for Handling Police Complaints in Thailand: A Brief Assessment" by Dhiyathad Prateeppornnarong.

  • "Nonetheless, dealing effectively with police complaints is laborious, especially in an authoritarian democracy (sic) like Thailand where the police have always been subjected to undue influence members of the political and economic elite."

Note the composition of the Board reads like the directory of the Thai Hi-So.

  • "Recent study on the internal police complaints system of the Thai police indicated that most Thai police cannot deal with complaints against their colleagues effectively as the police-led system seriously lacks impartiality." (2017)

Thus, the first case ever?

Years ago while driving through Bangkok, i pulled up next to a lorry with a bulge in a back tire that was the size of a rugby ball, i managed to get the drivers attention and pointed to the problem, after taking a look i received a smile and a shrug.

Road safety is secondary here.

They also need to address all the overloaded pick ups that we see everyday, saw this one on the way to Surin, looks like the pick up was sitting on its suspension bump stops.874716510_june2018851(2).jpg.dd0e3ca8cc74ca162ab858c97534b171.jpg

I worked on a PTT pipeline constructed by Bechtel in the late 90's, our yard was in the Rangsit area.

All project vehicles had a little round red sticker in the upper windshield, from the local police general in charge of the area.

At police checkpoints we got waved through and even saluted by some officers.

Don't know what it cost, but Bechtel is very good at greasing the wheels, so to speak

Must be fake news, police overlooking something like overloading, no never, impossible can't be true.....

Of course it does.????

Especially when the police [paired with the local mafia] have their hands into most everything.

Investigating within, indeed.
