BANGKOK(TNA) – The June 24 Democracy group submitted their demand to the Election Commission (EC), calling for an immediate certification of the May 14 general election results to pave the way for the democratic process in the parliament to vote for the next prime minister.

Bangkok taxi tango: Bad boy driver tries to rip off South Korean tourist

Another bad boy Bangkok taxi driver was caught engaging in unscrupulous deeds, this time attempting to rip off a South Korean tourist, charging the foreigner 700 baht for a 30-minute trip. Fortunately, the South Korean man saw through the taxi driver’s antics and paid him only 300 baht. The taxi driver was furious with this and went into meltdown, cursing and swearing at the tourist.

Move Forward Party leader, 43-year-old Pita Limjaroenrat, whose candidacy for the position of PM has the support of an eight-party coalition representing over 75% of the electorate and 62% of the provisionally announced seats in the House of Representatives, sounded less confident this week about the issue of his alleged shares in a defunct media company even as he tried to put it behind him. 


Weeks after the May 14th election a decisive result has been thrown into question with ‘roadblocks’ being erected in front of Mr Pita Limjaroenrat’s road to the Prime Minister’s office

Kazakh man in police custody over alleged shooting of Russian in Phuket

A Kazakh man was arrested on Thursday at Phuket international airport on suspicion of involvement in the shooting of a Russian national in the commercial area of the resort island on Wednesday.

Dog bites 5-year-old child, nearly severs ear, owner offers only 10,000 baht compensation without apology

A Facebook page reported the distressing story of a mother whose 5-year-old son was bitten by a dog from a nearby store. The incident occurred on May 14 when the family's son was playing in front of their house and had a wooden stick in his hand.

Four Lao Nationals Arrested for Illegal Entry into Thailand

In a recent incident, four individuals of Laotian nationality were apprehended by Thai authorities for unlawfully entering the city, in violation of local regulations. The incident took place on the banks of the Mekong River in Ban Song Ao, Huai Phichai Subdistrict, Pak Chom District, Loei Province on the evening of June 8.

Thailand boosts tourism budget to 5bn baht, targets off-peak travellers

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced its plans for the fiscal year 2024, with a focus on growing off-peak customers, increasing spending per trip by 7%, and distributing income to a wider range of destinations. The budget for these initiatives is set at 5 billion baht, a significant increase from the 3.25 billion baht allocated for fiscal 2023.

A lorry crashed into a passenger vehicle on Prasert Manukitch Road in Bangkok, resulting in the tragic death of a woman who was flung five metres from the car. The accident occurred in the early hours of the morning, with investigations revealing that both drivers experienced bouts of drowsiness.

Police arrested a 60 year old Thai man after he locked his daughter-in-law in a small cottage and set fire to the property, resulting in her death. The murder was motivated by a series of disputes between the alleged alcoholic and the victim.

Rabies outbreak claims 3 lives across 3 provinces; urgent vaccination urged

A surge in rabies cases has claimed three lives in the provinces of Chonburi, Rayong, and Surin, due to a lack of adequate vaccination after contact with the disease. A 28 year old Myanmar man also died in Tak province after being bitten by a rabid dog while in Myanmar.

Worrisome “media shares” rulings in recent past

While Move Forward leader Pita Limjaroenrat has taken certain actions regarding the iTV share controversy, history is not on his side. Some media reports have dug up similar cases that seemed inconsequential at first but eventually cost election candidates their parliamentary future.
