A fatal accident occurred in Hat Yai, Songkhla Province, when a pickup truck collided with a motorcycle. Deputy Inspector Tawip Petchchat reported from Khohong Police Station that the incident happened on the Naam Noi-Tha Nang Hom Road in Naam Noi, Hat Yai, a residential area, reported Siam Rath.

Upon arriving at the scene with the local emergency response team, including the Hat Yai Mitrphap Samakkhi Foundation, the small Keree rescue unit, and the Tha Kham Subdistrict Municipality emergency operation team, a gray Isuzu D-Max pickup truck was found in the ditch by the road.

Its roof was collapsed, and the tailgate was damaged. Attached to the rear of the truck was a black and red Honda Wave motorcycle, whose front was completely crushed.

The incident led to the tragic death of the motorcycle driver, Ms. Jira, aged 57, and critically injured her passenger, Ms. Rawee, aged 50. Both were village volunteers from Naam Noi, Hat Yai. The rescue team rushed the injured to the hospital.

The driver of the pickup, a man who sustained minor injuries, was detained for investigation and alcohol testing at Khohong Police Station to ascertain if he was under the influence.

Preliminary investigations revealed that at the time of the accident, the village volunteers were returning from a meeting. The pickup truck, driving at high speed, lost control and veered off the road. In trying to steer back onto the road, the driver collided with the oncoming motorcycle. The case continues to be investigated.
