The UK on Sunday signed a decent trade agreement with the CPTPP.

On the assumption that the conditions attached to this deal are favourable, then this is good news.

However, a bit of perspective is needed. As the article says, "It remains to be seen how much the deal actually benefits Britain’s growth prospects. Based on the government’s own estimates, the deal will raise long-term domestic GDP by just 0.08%, which will have little impact to offset European trade losses as a result of Brexit".

I wonder if Kemi Badenoch had a glance at a map to see where the CPTTC countries are located and where EU countries are.

Now this is a trade deal.

RCEP is a big deal, literally and metaphorically. When it’s signed off, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership will create a free trade zone covering about 30% of the world’s gross domestic product, trade and population.

It also marks the first time Japan has had an agreement with China and with South Korea.

The Japanese government approved the deal at the end of April – and expects it to boost GDP by 2.7% and create more than half a million jobs.

Not relevant, before Brexit it was cheaper for me in the UK to buy from China than Germany. EU transport costs are extremely high.

Excellent.  Also worth noting that the Japanese won't have to give up sovereignty to an unelected commission or subsidise countries who can't or wont get their finances in order.

Well played Japan.

Meanwhile the UK economy flounders.

Pun intended.

With inflation dropping to 7.9%!

Whoopeee

So prices that were beyond people’s income this time last year are only 7.9% higher right now.

Meanwhile UK guilt rates are up, growth is 0.1% and productivity is abysmal.

Wonderful.

An under discussed fact regarding CPTTC.

The UK already had individual barrier free trade agreements in place with 10 of the 11 member states. The only new one is Malaysia. Headlines from the Malaysian Straits Times is that due to the UK joining CPTTC the 12% tariff on palm oil is to be removed. So the UK will allow unsustainable and environmentally unfriendly produce to enter Britain to the detriment of all the rape seed oil farmers who have to follow UK imposed rules.

Still the good news is there, will be no farmers voting conservative in the by-elections.

Wonderful.

Yeah, "the Brexit the Brexit the Brexit".  Yawn.

Meanwhile, the EU has officially entered recession and there is a war going on their doorstep (though the riots in France seem to have now eased up or even stopped).

Let's hope the war doesn't go nuclear eh (fingers crossed).

And Thailand remains under military rule and it's currency has been dropping - Maybe they should give up their sovereignty to China for a few shekels too? - it'd make sense using your logic - would you support that?  If not, why not?

Brexit has never been given a chance to settle all the problems it was certainly going to cause

Why did no one consider adressing those issues before selling an ageing and zenophobic population a bill of false goods?

Latest breaking news from the Daily Fail. (The paper that keeps racism alive and well in the UK)

Those bloody EU foreigners are at it again. They have just announced that in the near future, UK citizens will be subjected to requiring a visa to visit the EU. To add injury to insult they will treat us as common criminals requiring a photograph and fingerprints. Who do they think they are, treating gods gift to mankind as ruffians and scallywags. Calling us a third country nation is just not cricket. (We are world leaders at that as well). They need to realise that the last time we were restricted to visiting a country we gathered a task force and gave them a damn good thrashing. We at the Daily Fail say stop buying Johnny Foreigners EU goods so that their economy collapses and they come cap in hand to join the Empire Of The UK to access our wonderful trade deals. Continued on pages 2,3,4,5,6,7,8.

On another page but well hidden from readers. Hundreds of Brits expelled from Sweden, Portugal, Spain, France and Germany in the last week. Unfortunately space limits restrict reporting on their fate.
