Chiang Mai Floods Prompt Urgent Response to Swollen Ping River
I understand the thinking of doing so but it will not happen as it would cost billions of baht from the hotels, restaurants, Wat along both sides of the river. Ask at Samsen Villa, Soi Ping Bar & Restaurant, Anatara Chiang Mai Resort, Wat Chai Mongkhon where they have the Ping River Cruises, Goodview ... what they think of the idea. -

Guys, do you cheat on your Thai wife/girlfriend?
In theory yes they would definitely be considered whores, but hookers is a term that's typically used for women. I don't like the term, I think it's rather gross. I think sex worker, professional, freelancer, anything like that is a more kind-hearted and less judgmental description. But, I get your point. -

Billie Eilish and Finneas Endorse Kamala Harris for President
Are there really that many of them? I find it hard to believe that there really are many of them out there, though they make enough noise to think there are more of them than the reality. -

Proposal Needed for Legal Revisions to Foreign Land Leases
Sounds like a state land grab to me. you can buy your land but if you want to lease it to the people who have cash to pay, then you give your land to the State. You may get your lease money. But will it cover cost of purchase and it’s new value in 99 years? As the land increases in value over 99 years, the state takes it and any builldings improvements on your land done by lessee. State land grab triggered by jingoism -

Two Women Arrested for Pawning Fake Gold Across Bangkok and Provinces
The only problem now is how to pin this crime on foreigners. We all know that Thai people would NEVER do this. 🤣 -

I was looking forward to reading your reply but alas you deleted the information. Am I correct on what I stated that Chiang Mai do not accept income and money in the bank combination? -

Wholesale Purchases of Consumer Goods in Thailand
Dear Forum Members I'm seeking advice on purchasing wholesale quantities of consumer goods in Thailand. Specifically, I'm interested in items like instant noodles, coffee, Knorr products, shampoo, and baby formula. Questions: Legal Considerations: Is it permissible for an individual with a DTV visa to purchase large quantities (50-100 cartons) of these items? Do I need any special permits or licenses? Best Wholesale Markets: Which cities or regions in Thailand offer the most competitive wholesale prices for these products? I'm open to relocating if necessary. Retail Options: Are the prices at Makro generally competitive for wholesale purchases? Are there other retailers or wholesalers that might offer better deals? Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! -

First UK Lawmaker Resigns from Labour Party, Accuses PM of Hypocrisy
She was always going to jump ship at some point but she cynically waited until she got elected to enjoy those 5 years as an MP. If she had any principles then she would resign and call a by-election, that way we can see if her constitutents agree with her -

Feel sorry for AN posters who bought electric
I'm quite happy that prices are dropping so hopefully these loud pickups leaving a mile of black smoke behind will one day be a thing of the past. Now seeing a nearly silent bus or car driving past is a good thing, at least in the city, and I hope this continues. Though only part of the price drop is increase in production and with that lowering prices of components, especially battery cost which in past 3 years dropped about 70%, the other part are government subsidies. And those who bought BYD cars before price drop - you got free charging for a year or 2, so while you paid more, you're now driving around for free. Interesting was the article (in non-English news) about NEO car... Apparently it allows the whole battery kit to be removed and replaced with another within 3 minutes. You can buy a car with or without battery - with a latter option is to lease battery. Kind of like Coway water filter or air cleaner - you pay monthly rent on battery which NEO would replace if anything goes wrong, and it's 20k EUR cheaper purchase price that way. It is an expensive car at 90k EUR in Germany, though. But just that part - of replacing the whole 150 kWh battery pack within 3 minutes sounds interesting. That's the main beef some posters have with electric cars... -

Saved a Thai from being fined. Good or bad?
Warning others of a police stop is certainly a decent thing to do. All those police roadblocks accomplish is the collection of money to buy condos and new cars. The police here engage in zero in the way of traffic safety and I have never once, in all the years I have been here, seen a car pulled over for reckless driving. The vast majority of the cops here are revenue collection agents and franchisees, not law enforcement officers. -

Billie Eilish and Finneas Endorse Kamala Harris for President
What scares me is that some posters on here that I think are normally well balanced intelligent people lose their mind when it comes to Trump, and actually think Harris is a better option. I'd prefer someone less controversial than Trump, but the idea of Harris as POTUS terrifies me. Harris is a closed book, and there is no knowing what creepy things she's hiding from public view. Trump, on the other hand is too open, to his own detriment. Perhaps you should be asking why 70 odd million Americans prefer him to her, instead of getting tied up in his imperfections.
