Wagner chief's 24 hours of chaos in Russia

For one long June night and a day, Russia's notorious mercenary leader Yevgeny Prigozhin staged an apparent insurrection, sending an armoured convoy towards Moscow and raising questions about Vladimir Putin's grip on power.

The Russian president even accused his former ally of treason, embarking on an armed rebellion and "a stab in the back of our country".

But by the end of Saturday, Prigozhin had called the whole thing off and ordered his men back to base.

"In 24 hours we got to within 200km (124 miles) of Moscow. In this time we did not spill a single drop of our fighters' blood," he announced.

Twenty-four hours of mayhem, and so much we don't know.

Was the Wagner boss planning a coup?

Prigozhin was adamant this was "a march for justice", not a coup. Whatever it was, it came to an end very fast.

Putin’s live broadcast statement in response was telling.

 

The themes and rhetoric could very easily have been mistaken as having been scripted by a well known fascist.

The good news is that by sending the Wagner group to Belarus, Putin is weakening the Russian forces in the Ukraine.

 

Putin now knows that his position is no longer safe.

Yeah whatever Bill the main thing is the sooner Putin goes and whoever next takes over puts a stop to the war the sooner the better.

I suppose a lot will depend on who takes over from Putin, if they are willing to end the war, leave ALL Russian occupied Ukraine, return all the Ukrainian children, families, POWs etc taken to Russia.

 

Sadly they cannot bring the dead of either side back to life

 

Russia will have to be prepared to rebuild the Ukraine and also surrender to the Hague all those, including Putin, accused of was crimes, where IMHO they will get a fair trial.

 

Whoever it may be has to be strong enough to be able to do all that and hopefully hold the Russian States together as well.

 

There will be a very big pair of boots to fill for whoever it may be.

 

From the EU and the NATO side, they will have to control President Zelensky and the Ukraine, and perhaps temper their demands into reality.

 

Another set of big boots to fill. 

 

Hopefully most of the politicians of all stripes, can be kept away from any deal.

Yesterday was hoping the Wagner group would bring down Putin and bring an end to the war, i reckon Russian soldiers were hoping the same, appeared to be a delay in what action they should take

A BBC commentator was saying that similar failed rebellions in Russia have portended bad outcomes in the past, such as one before the collapse of the soviet union.

 

It's possible that we may soon see a black swan event which will propel the price of gold to new highs very quickly. It's just a thought.

I don't think the media hyped anything. I read and saw continuously 'nobody knows exactly what is happening and how it will play out'.

Russia's smartest move would be to replace Putin with an actual democracy, decommission its nuclear stockpile and join the EU.

It will never happens in near future. Russians mentality prevents any form of democracy!

 

Afterplay of Gladnost should be a clear proof, and Putin as their savior.

Unfortunately hope does not feed empty bellies, rebuild infrastructure, bring back children kidnapped and taken to Russia, homes and possessions stolen and destroyed or bring back the dead on BOTH sides.
