Get yourself a yellow book  (Tabian Bahn).End of your problem,s.

From the OP...

"I stated to open a bank account..."

A Yellow book would be useless.

He requires a certificate of residence.

The last account I opened I used a pink ID. BUT it was with a bank I already had an account with.

I do not think I ever had to provide a C of R to the bank.

It's a very recent change.

I opened a new account at another bank couple of years ago however I had extensions from non O.

Also rental agreement ( can't recall if that was even necessary.

Kasikorn bank.

At the same time Bangkok Bank straight up refused even with my non O.

They wanted certificate of residence or letter from embassy.

This was all in Bangkok.

Things have changed a LOT even in last several months.

Perhaps now not even possible to open bank account with visa exempt stamp.

Even places such as Jomtien requiring COR.

The issue in Bangkok (at CW) is to obtain COR  you need to have made a TM47.

Not possible on tourist visa.

BTW for TDL the transport offices require a COR.

Thinking previously Pink ID cut it.

The added scrutiny seems to be down to money laundering laws.

At a guess you have extensions from a non O or similar.

When did you open account last year and which province.

From my previous post....

"I opened a new account at another bank couple of years ago however I had extensions from non O

Kasikorn bank" )

Non O Thai wife - December 2022 - BKK

Also previously u typed...

"BTW for TDL the transport offices require a COR. Thinking previously Pink ID cut it. "

Last year, I extended my 5 years license (first issued in 2008) to another 5 year license at DLT (Chatuchak) ,

I used my Yellow BOOK no problems as long as I went to my local Amphur and provide DLT with a record/paper from the Amphur, stating that this passport holder is actually the same person holding this yellow book/ pink ID!!

As I have previously posted, my yellow book / Pink ID obtained 10 years has been no more than positive use for opening accounts, DLT, checking in hotels, vaccines, use in hospitals, enrolling in M40 etc...... ????

I used the pink ID to renew my DL about eight months ago. All I needed was the old license and the pink ID.

I did exactly that 3 weeks ago and certificate of residence was required at Chatuchak.

Pink ID would not cut it.

Back to your comment re opening a bank account....

You stated in reply to status in Thailand.

"Non O Thai wife - December 2022 - BKK"

I have already stated that a extensions from a non O would be sufficient until recently to open bank account.

Anyway enough. Don't accept your account for TDL renewal.

It could be that they ask yo for a COR because yr licence has as an ID number yr the passport number on it..

Mine has the 13 digit pink id number as the ID no., on it.

As for your peristance about the non O Extension Thai wife until recently to open a bank account,

i don't agree as the conditions on the SCB havent changed. If you have a proper extension no worries, it's the tourist visa people that they don't like....

Is yr pink ID number also yr driver licence ID no?

Then your experience is correct ????

I have accounts at most banks, but still... wanting this dumb paper or no savings account 'possible'... several branches also...  red tape

What is status in Thailand?

Which province.

If you are on extensions from eg a non O,  a certificate of residence would not be required at some banks

You were able to open bank account because you have a non-O

The yellow book had nothing to do with it.

A non O and eg rental agreement would have been sufficient.

In fact the non O alone would cut it with some banks.

I opened new account with Kasikorn (yes 2 years ago)

With pp. I'm on extensions from non O.

Had a lease and TM47 .

From memory were not looked at.

Things have changed a lot (esp Bangkok) in last couple of years due to money laundering laws.
