Thai police accused of demanding 500,000 baht from Kazakhstan suspect

Neither of them sound like the sharpest pencils in the box, for 500,000 baht they could probably have avoided his initial incarceration and made everything disappear, a lot less if they had negotiated in the beginning

I don't really care what happens to a Kazakhstan thief

The RTP are a blight on the nation.

The very epitome of a Banana Republic.  Concur with every thought in this post especially the daily death toll on the roads condone by the RTP's inaction and laziness.

So first he was arrested by Pattaya police then he was apprehended by immigration police.

I'm guessing he was released on bail by Pattaya police and, whilst free to prepare his case, was picked up by immigration police.

What was he detained for by immigration police.

Cash potential (B500,000)!

One can surmise, now it appears that he was a fairly wide ranging operator ( Koh Samui, Phuket, Pattaya) that the authorities were aware of him, and aware of how much he could be squeezed for...

The RTP should just publish a menu which describes the "offense" and the price for the bribe.

Also include payment channel options, and name, bank and account numbers.

And waive that facial recognition requirement so we can pay more than 50,000 at a pop.

And/or implement a prepayment option which includes a sticker we can flash to get out of that day's potential arrest.

The highway patrol is even worse than the RTP. They are the very definition of sloth. They rarely ever patrol the roads, they never pull anyone over for reckless driving, they never cite trucks for dangerously hogging the fast lane on a major highway, and the only time you see them is after an accident. They are an abomination.

Good one sir. Brought a smile to my face. However there may be more than one menu used according to nationality.

Indians for example may be offered a 2 for 1 solution.

Many years ago I was exploring near the lake and came across one of their vehicles partially hidden in the bushes with 2 policemen sleeping in there.

Anything to avoid an honest day of work, and labor that keeps the people safe.
