Metropolitan Police tightens up security following possible insurgency schemes

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Adisorn Nonsee has ordered for more police officers to be dispatched in Bangkok after the intelligence units have reported of potential unrest activities.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Adisorn says the intelligence units have tipped off the authority about the southern insurgents' plan to instigate violence in the capital. Consequently, he has assigned the police officers to beef up the security measures in public and risky areas as well as residences of important figures, especially during nighttime. He says the police and army units have coordinated well to stabilize the situation. However, he says there have been no reports concerning the foreign workforces who may attempt to create social turbulence.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Adisorn has reminded police officials in Bangkok metropolis and vicinity to monitor their respective areas more closely as many motorcycles and other properties have been stolen recently. He has told them to look for the motorcycles without license plates and to report them to the authority immediately.

Has to be those bloody Farang Teachers again!! They normally get the blame.

Oh, wait a minute....I'm just off to get my backpack and get on the bus.

Likelyhood is, that this PR is being used to back up the Junta's hopes of implementing martial law and putting back the elections, so that Sonthi has more time to manouvere himself into a more acceptable position to become the next PM.

One would hope that this alert is based on something other people wanting political gain. By the way, in all seriousness, I am still wondering if anyone knows what they mean by foreign workforce.

I know we are all bad farangs etc., but do they have any reason to believe that there are real foreigners involved or foreigners linked to some international terrorist organization?

Yep. Thailand's own "War On Terror", with its own "Patriot Act" waiting in the wings.

Embassy 'knows nothing' of alleged arrest of Briton

(BangkokPost.com) - The National Police Force has confirmed that a British man of Pakistani descent believed to be one of the suspects behind last month’s botched car bomb attacks in London is not on the watch list of suspected terrorists as earlier speculated.

According to local sources, the man was recently stopped by Thai authorities as he was boarding a flight back to the UK. Following intense police interrogations, authorities decided he did not pose a security threat and allowed him to board his flight on July 2.

Good point, I'd almost forgotten about the New Year's bombings. Maybe they are getting their predictions from a famous astrologer in Chiang Mai!

I'm in Chiangmai, I'd give it a go, what the going rate for telling a good fortune to the man with the money... 555 might be able to give up my day job...

BTW... half a dozen military personnel, new uniforms, new guns, on the intersection near our factory today ....... what a joke....
