Popular Post snoop1130
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has set an ambitious goal of welcoming 68.5 million foreign tourists in 2028, which will generate an estimated total revenue of 5.6 trillion baht, equivalent to 25% of Thailand’s GDP. The TAT say that they are also finalising marketing plans for Thailand’s tourism in 2025, which expect to generate a total revenue of 3.1 trillion baht, accounting for 16% of the country’s GDP, with 74% coming from international tourists, equivalent to 2.29 trillion baht, and 26% from domestic tourists, equivalent to 805.6 billion baht. Following the reopening of the country in 2022 and the post-pandemic recovery this year, 2025 will mark the beginning of the “Resilience phase,” where the tourism industry rebounds and grows continuously. The TAT hopes to maintain sustainable growth in tourism income through 2028. KannikaP
Any ideas about 24,25,26 & 27? Sorry, didn't read all the BS. What happens after 28? Edited July 12, 2023 by KannikaP
StayinThailand2much
I'm sure the dot in 68.5 million was just a little smudge on the original proposal, so, knowing TAT optimism, they are probably expecting 685 million tourists, incl. 500 million or so from China... They expect around 10 billion tourists, so, basically, everyone on planet Earth travelling 1.5 times each year to Thailand, generating a tourism income of 1 trillion zillion baht, effectively making Thailand the richest place in the galaxy, well 5% of Thailand's population anyway... 1
dave s
So each of these tourists, every man, woman and child, will spend an average of B81,752 on the trip. About B327,000 for a family of a couple and 2 children. Assuming that the parents pay for the family hotel and meals and stuff, what additional things will each of the 2 children spend about an average of B80,000 on? RichardColeman
The only way that this could happen is if ALL world flights are reduced by 60-70% - there comes a point when flights are just too expensive to fly to Thailand for family and thus there is a pool limit of foreigners willing to spend. Personally I think they will still not be back to pre-pandemic highs by 28 !

Caldera
Outlandish, and not something I would wish on Thailand to actually materialize. Wasn't their plan to focus on quality over quantity? They seem to have realized that they cannot attract enough "quality tourists".
