They don't promote women and they don't promote non Japanese. My dear super awesome wifey was the only non Japanese woman in Thailand who ever got promoted, however she hit a ceiling and wasn't going anywhere. So, last year she gave them the finger, put her resume on LinkedIn and got hired by US/Euro company and works from home. In fact she is working right now in another room in her birthday suit.
