  • So the caaretaker Government are still making rules two moonths after been ousted in a general election!

  • Eww. It's going to be messy. The girls will have shift work. Another excuse to shortchange you on your long-time. “I've got to get back to the bar. My shift is about to start“

  • Seems my little neighborhood bars on the Darkside will have to continue closing at 3am, 555.

Clearly there has been an insufficient number of drunk expats throwing TVs from their apartment or hotel room balconies. Got to juice the GDP.

Crony-nomics is based squarely on the Broken Window Fallacy.

Bargain barfine prices at near closing time will be a thing of the past! (And perhaps meeting up outside after closure too).

Good luck with the enforcement of that.  Its gonna be the usual chaos and brown envelopes so that any two bit booze pit can stay open.

Is a opening past 4-5 AM really needed?......Nope it sure is not.....The only people a 24 hour opening would serve is hardcore alcoholics....

However, before you get too excited, the regulation is not yet official and needs approval from regional and local leaders along with guidelines and regulations for the change. No timeline for this has been set.

Negotiations are ongoing! ????????????:jap:

I think this 24 hour thing is just greasing the wheels for future casinos....

Casinos all stay open 24/7/365 the world over.......

So 24 hour bars will help people get used to the 24 hour thing..

Things need to be well-oiled to operate 24/7.

Not forgetting the occasional resleeving.

What cabinet the shadow senate unelected one ? ????

...except that don't mention alcohol at all, which is odd. If they don't also alter the alcohol selling hours, this would mean a lot of bars staying open all night serving cola and soda water!

Along with ganga, I think they have recriminalizing prostitution on the agenda.

Actually a good thing, for the workers and income tax collection, as surely they'll be reporting at tax time.  Maybe get some health bennies and on the SS system, for that 500 baht a month after retirement.

I'm sure K Y wont let the workers down

If they're going to make drinking allowed 24/7,  then they should raise the penalty for drunk driving to include significant jail time, to hopefully encourage people to drink responsibly.

Encouraging tourists to drink more and longer

Will be interesting on the number involved in motor bike incidents in the early hours going back to their accommodation ????

Plenty of such businesses stay open until dawn in Europe. Just another example of Thailand attempting to catch up with the outside world.

Nonsense again. Europe, the lighthouse, the light of the world ????

I hope so.

It is not about encouraging people to drink more or longer, it is about having the choice when to.

Back in the early 90's when i first came here all of Pattaya was open 24/7, and it was great, no binge drinking in short hours, much less aggression and violence, it worked perfectly, business's were busy all day, oh i wish it would go back to that!

Recall that the EEC was created by the junta government using its absolute power to override any local protest and environmental laws (ie., available water for new and expanded commercial and industry vs legacy agriculture being bring a major issue).

The oversight body is the 22-member (13 cabinet ministers, 2 honoray directors, a Budget Bureau Director, 3 secretary generals and 3 industry chairmen) EEC Policy Committee headed by Chairman Prayut.

As such one might imagine that such persons will have a continuing economic interest beyond the end of the Prayut regime.

This is a pretty good summary of the shady EEC.....I would love to see a paper trail on their MASSIVE funding sometime....Their web site does its best to not give out any funding info at all....

All this Smart City bla bla bla did not originate in Thailand....So I think many EEC directives come from some where else...

At least allow 7/11 to sell alcohol 24/7 in Pattaya again.

And give the staff a choice to wear masks or not

Hardly.

Hardcore alcoholics drink from the moment they wait up. I doubt most of them make it much past 10pm, nevermind 4am!

No doubt the kill joy's will be out in force on learning of this news...

Did anybody think about the BiB?

They will lose a lot of income when the venues will be able to legally stay open.

Somehow I wouldn't be surprised that in the future legally the places have to be shut but somehow the police don't see when they are open.

So now "wait for the girls" to finish her shift and don't pay bar fee... won't happen anymore...5555

I'm grateful I don't run or own any business in Thailand.

Probably a lot of people on here feel the same way.

Bread and Circuses whilst they get on with the business of denying the popular vote.

The only model in controlled areas that I see  is operate 20 hours a day.

Times are at the owners discretion but nominated & advised to authorities.

This gives time for a good clean & "empties the bar"

I managed 3 casino bars in the same property & the above did work

Noise, filth and degradation 24/7 wont that damage the image of the country? ????

24 hour opening used to work perfectly well, back then it was a much better overall feeling in Pattaya.

Changed days now though mate, a lot more people here now, and a lot more lower-class people thanks to budget air travel.

It was like that many years ago,not 24/7 but open to late never a problem.closed early and the st bars popped up.not sure about brown evenlopes back then what will happen now if legal and above board.Apart from the the bars everyone knows that close late nothing will change in their area.Unless the law does come in
