Thaksin’s pending return signals done deal?

Featured Replies

image.jpeg

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra wants his planned return to Thailand to be seen as a family affair. But few are fooled by his latest political act.

All of a sudden Thaksin has become a key player in the weeks-long political haggling over the formation of a post-election coalition.  His announcement that he will finally end his self-exile and fly back to Bangkok on August 10 is seen by many as a signal that a deal has already been sealed.

Despite his years of absence, Thaksin still calls the shots in Pheu Thai Party, which is now entrusted by its allies with the task of forming a coalition. The ongoing attempts by Pheu Thai to get wider support outside its alliance for its prime ministerial nomination has, however, run into a brick wall.

Unusual? Much less unusual than watch collector for example and billionaire Ferrari cops etc.

Sure he evaded tax when selling his business.

In the west this is common practice and a fool would you be called if paying tax.

Really?

How often did he promise he will come back? And then he didn't come.

How often did he lie about basically anything?

Maybe there is a deal, maybe he will come back.

But how high is the chance that this will happen this time with two weeks announcement?

Probably has to come back to secure any ill gotten gains.????

Yes, he did answer with a question, as it has been in the news many times.

If he comes back with any power, that's the end of the cannabis trade

Even Sondhi Limthongkul is giving his blessing. So the fix really is in.

he could proceed with selling his company. by monday, the deal was completed!!!

of course, some may argue that changing the law was not entirely selfless ...

There's no evidence of any deals between anybody. Nobody writing this copy is able to produce anything to back up their claims. I've emailed 3 sources. Nothing. Thanathorn has been asked to account for the widespread reports in all the Thai media regarding an apparent visit he made to Hong Kong. Nothing. Everything is hearsay. If Thaksin comes back, then I guess we'll find out soon enough. If the CC meets on 3rd August to consider Pita's second nomination, ditto. If Pita appears before the CC on 3rd, to answer charges regarding share ownership, ditto.

Of course, for many politicians, this is all immaterial. MFP has already been written off, so it's no longer part of the plan. That's entirely to be laid at the door of the truly nauseating Pheu Thai party. Pheu Kong Kray? Friends of whom? However, if the CC rule that Pita was wrongly denied a second vote, then back off bxx boys brigade. He presumably will claim a second vote, this delaying things even further, but why not, I ask, although he seems to have pretty much thrown in the towel.

It's a very sad reflection on Thai society that a young guy who had honest and decent intentions to enter Thai politics, has ended up on the wrong end of several lawsuits that could see him banged up for a lengthy period of time, banned from politics, etc etc. His name and reputation ruined. Gross!

That was the land case you referring. As for the Shin Corp sale, it was adjudicated by the court and ruled in favor of Thaksin . Court further ruled that officials involved were not guilty of any crime.

If it was that simple he doesn't need to fear the current charge

Because courts in Thailand are always fair and not affected by political pressures :clap2:

Did you hear about the 100s of people he killed in Isarn with no trial? Many were innocents.

He, and others, are usually protected by such accusations in a variety of manners.

Certainly won't be touched upon by the military/elite controlled media.......or outside agitators/activists, who are almost always dealt with through an unjust conduit.
