Popular Post HappyExpat57
I wrote to Meiji corporate and asked why the severe lack of milk and received this response: "Dear Sir, First of all, CP-Meiji would like to apologize for any inconvenience may have caused to you for the issue: Meiji Pasteurized Milk - Supply Shortage. We would like to inform you that this period (August - October) in every year in Thailand is 'Dry Cow Period' then we have the limited of raw milk supply to produce Meiji Pasteurized Milk to serve over demand. We sincerely apologize once again for the issue and thank you very much for your valuable information and understanding. Best Regards," So I guess this is an actual thing, corroborated by the Google machine, though this is the first time I've noticed it in my almost 18 years here. 9 1

Maybe due to lack of rain, poor grass, also shortage of farang bananas apparently same reason
Coota
I wondered why the shelves were near empty when I went to buy my milk here is Surin.
BritManToo
So 3 more months with no milk?

BoganInParasite
Up here in Pua the full cream milk shortage has been evident since early June. This is our fifth year here and I don't recall previous milk shortages. As I've commented before we are somewhat used to being on the end of an unreliable supply chain.

This dry time falls in line with breeding time of year. 4 1
herfiehandbag
Milk seems to back on the shelves, interestingly with a number of unfamiliar (more local) brand labels. I buy mine from 7/11. Maybe they have gone for a more "decentralised" procurement process?
rwill
Maybe they could use 'bull milk' to tide everyone over.
scorecard
We buy the 1 liter UHT packs. The taste is a little different but very drinkable and good for coffee, corn flakes etc., (just my opinion of course). We have 3 adults and 4 kids in the house (Thai son, his Thai wife and their 4 kids and me), 17 down to baby. They all love fresh chilled milk, 2 maybe 3 glasses every day. Poured from the 1 liter UHT box they noticed the taste was a little different but they drink it without hesitation. Quality is just not there and they about half the size. Edited August 5, 2023 by lopburi3 1

Bit like some of us actually...
