I agree with your historic assessment, I think the banks are only now completing the work they should have completed a few years ago and that everyone will get one of these forms. As a non-American, the first I found out about FATCA (et al) was when I asked my bank, UOB, to cash a US Treasury and they refused, saying the bank will not transact with American onshore financial entities. Fortunately, CIMB would and they cashed the cheque. Later, when I tried to have my US SSc sent to UOB via IDD, UOB again refused to accept the deposit....those things were the catalyst for me opening a BBL bank account, that was two + years ago. And when I did open a BBL account, the US SSc IDD form was copied and countersigned several times with both BBL and Manilla saying they wanted the original! -

Foreigner Wrecks Chiang Mai Stall After Smoking Ban Warning
I wish the yearly air pollution would be as demonized in Thailand as smoking. Years ago when I was still a smoker I was attacked by a man near Chiang Mai moat. I was quite a distance away from any people and the man thought he was protecting his child who was playing on the moat walls, quite a distance away while red Songteaws were passing by and belching black smoke. Most people don't see the trees because of woods that is the real problem of Thailand. -

Wrong from my experience they drive slowly all over the roadway honking at people walking to solicit rides. Then suddenly stop to let people get on. Many times fat and slow can barely pull up themselves into the back. Then, the delays of people getting out and paying often times with incorrect coin needing change. They are a major hazard especially on Soi Buakhao suddenly stopping in the middle of the road backing up traffic. In my opinion under the current usage they showed be banned. -

Actually, the only place I can see, where they ask you to enter your Thai TIN, is the first paragraph on page one, right under where they ask for your passport number. Yes, if you have a Thai TIN, you enter it here: the first paragraph on page one, right under where they ask for your passport number. If you have a foreign Tax ID ( I mean by this, a Non-Thai, Non US Tax ID for clarity) , AND you are a current tax resident of that foreign jurisdiction, you enter it under Part 2, Section 1, page 2. If you do that, you would not be then completing Part 2, Section 2 of the form (page 2 in the comment section as you describe it), which is where they ask for a reason you haven't provided a Tax ID number. Agree. -

Inverter AC vs Non Inverter AC on Solar
IMHO Inverter definitely: - Reduced energy consumption. Importantly for solar, no (or very much reduced) start-up surge. Inverter units did get a bad rep due to being rather less-than-robust when it came to power surges and creature ingress. These issues are largely now solved. -
