Popular Post webfact
Thailand’s ex-prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, and his younger sibling, Yingluck, were notable guests at Cambodian PM’s birthday bash in Phenom Penh at the weekend. Fresh News and The Phnom Penh Post reported yesterday that the 74 year old Thaksin, and his 56 year old sister Yingluck graced the 71st birthday festivities of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen in Ta Khmao, Cambodia. The former Thai prime ministers made a brief visit to the country, spending a single night to partake in the celebration. In a recent announcement on Saturday, Thaksin conveyed his plans to delay his return to Thailand from August 10 for about two weeks due to pending medical check-ups. Shinawatra, whose background lies in telecommunications, took to the popular social media platform Twitter to inform followers of his upcoming health checkup, which resulted in the need for him to reschedule his original plan to return to Thailand. Having been overthrown by a coup in September 2006, Thaksin, for the most part, has lived in a self-imposed exile. He briefly came back to Thailand in 2008, only to flee once more prior to the Supreme Court’s ruling sentencing him for conflict of interest during his time as prime minister. by Mitch Connor Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, left, walks together with former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra in Phnom Penh on Saturday, August 5, 2023. George Soros pounced on their financial manipulation and became the breadwinner while they became refuges. The financial meltdown was caused by Bangkok Bank of Commerce (BBK), which made huge unsecured loans to its friends, and that led to the crisis. It is the only time in living memory that Thailand has had an influence on the outside world. A pity it was such a negative one - except for us who were here and suddenly found the value of our homeland currency had doubled.https://www.thaipbsworld.com/bangkok-bank-of-commerce-embezzlement-scandal-ends-with-conviction-of-financier-rakesh-saxena/ 1 3

Popular Post toho
I gave him some credit. Because many poor people consider him to be a good man: fighting against drugs, offering some social welfare (hospital care). But this visit is really disgusting. Cambodia is still ruled by the red Khmer. First they stole, killed intellectuals (even wearing glasses was a sign), starved millions, killing fields all over the place, traded their rice for weapons from friend China. And now the same "communists" living in big mansions and driving huge cars. They should be trialed and shot. While the normal Cambodians keep quiet because they do not want fighting again. Such a shame. Unfortunately many countries look the other way. Edited August 8, 2023 by toho 3

Popular Post Scouse123
Hun Sen was installed by the Vietnamese and kept on a leash for years as a puppet on a string to do their bidding. Yes he was Khmer Rouge and yes there are indeed plenty of surviving members in high positions of government within Cambodia to this day. There were just a few notable Khmer Rouge exceptions who were high profile and couldn't refute the evidence against them and went down for the behaviour of all the others. Hun Sen constantly interfered in the war crimes tribunals behind the scenes and constantly refused and blocked assistance to their investigations. He is indeed an evil dictator but unfortunately has the people where he wants them and is now going head on to form a dynasty of his own making surrounded by cronies, family, and sycophants. He is now hedging his bets and sucking up to the Chinese and North Koreans. 1 1 1

There's two possibilities here. One, he's hopeless at lying. Two, the required fitness levels decrease the greater the dictatorship you're travelling to.

Eric Loh
Much ado about nothing more than a personal invitation for a birthday celebration between long time friends. No political statements were made for the duration of the celebration. If Prayut was invited, it will be a political statement. 2
