And not just the neighbors, those weapons were capable of firing hundreds of bullets in a few seconds which would carry for long distances and pose a huge threat in an urban environment. The FBI would not have known whether or not he had bump stocks or extended magazines either.

The elderly and mentally ill (possibly suffering from dementia) should be treated with care and compassion, not shot in their own homes.

 

The FBI ruled this housebound guy a 'credible threat' to a Biden visit later that day.

Blocking his driveway for the day would have been enough to removed any credible threat until Biden would have been out of his reach again. 

 

It's not as if Biden was going to drive past his house.

If someone is elderly and making death threats, and/or is demented, he shouldn't be in possession of weapons. Maybe his family should stop blaming the Feds and look at themselves to assign culpability.

He wasn’t ‘housebound’. That’s just propaganda. The family state ‘largely home bound’. That doesn’t mean anything. He might spend a lot of time on his own grounds. In fact his neighbours talk about him playing with kids in neighbours years and offering to drive people home from the local church. Sounds like someone who can move around. 
I am also ‘largely home bound’, out of choice.
