The Appeal Court found Suthep not guilty of corruption

Ex-deputy PM Suthep Thaugsuban talks to reporters after the Appeal Court found him not guilty of corruption on August 22.

Former deputy prime minister Suthep Thaugsuban and five co-defendants have been found not guilty of corruption, in the construction of 396 police stations and apartments around the country, by the appeals panel of the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Political Office Holders.

 

The ruling today (Tuesday) upheld that of the Supreme Court given on September 10 last year.

 

The case dates back to 2009-2013, during the Democrat-led administration led by Abhisit Vejjajiva.  Suthep was accused by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), along with three other senior police officers, PCC Development and Construction Company and one of its executives, of malfeasance in office for changing the contracts for the construction of police stations and apartments, from separate contracts into a single one, without checking the bid prices, which were unrealistically low.

Now here is a truly despicable politician who is responsible for theft of democracy from the Thai people. 

Never forget that Suthep and his armed yellow shirt thugs spent weeks marching around Bangkok facilitated the coup that led to Prayut.

As for him selling land on Pukhet, which had been destined for local farmers, to his rich chums when he was Deputy Environment Minister well.......

Don't think this is the case for any deal. He and 5 of his PDRC leaders have been convicted for insurrection and sentenced and out on bail pending appeal. I think this is the case that will be the part of the soon to be announced big reconciliation and amnesty for all political prisoners including Thaksin.

Yes indeed. As a so-called "yellow shirt" Deputy Prime Minister under PM Abhisit (reference Wikipedia)

 

After several Criminal court rulings that deaths and injuries sustained by Red-Shirt protesters during the political unrest in April and May 2010 were the direct result of orders to soldiers given by Suthep Thaugsuban ...........public prosecutors and police agreed to file murder charges against him.^[20][21]

Suthep along with Abhisit was also found responsible by the Court for the assassination of Italian journalist Fabio Polenghi, who was covering the 2010 protests.^[22][23]
