X-ray - Bangkok | Ankle fracture

Hi , 

I am looking for a recommended hospital for Ankle Xray. 

Non insured , preferably affordable with english speaking 

- 

Leg in temporary cast, no surgery 

Need to switch to a moonboot/CAM

X-rays are inexpensive, even at the hospitals known for being more expensive. 

 

i.e. An X-ray at Bangkok Hospital will cost you around: 

- B1600 - X-Ray

- B500 *Nurse Fees & other charges

- B650 Physician fee

My first choice would be Bangkok Christian Hospital on Silom. You might have to see a doctor first but not expensive.

 

But there are many small MRI/X-Ray clinics. I once had an MRI done in such a place but I can find the result to look on the envelope.

Apart from Bangkok Hospital, do you perhaps have any more recommendations ? 

I'm unsure of whether an appointment is necessary as well

I think X-Ray finishes at 8pm but anytime in the day is good. You'll have to register at the front desk first.

Outpatient clinic is also available in the evening but you might not get to X-Ray the same evening. Best in the daytime if you can.

 

I had an MRI done once in a small clinic but they didn't interpret the result.

That seems a little expensive from my experience.

 

I had an x-ray of my hand about a year ago. The x-ray and exam by a doctor as well as two prescriptions came to a whopping 650 THB.......  However that was at a government hospital in Nan.

There are loads of hospitals in Bangkok. 

If all you need is an x-ray and a simple interpretation from a Dr to tell you that its ok to transition from a cast to a boot, then any will be ok.

 

Of course, you want a Dr. who can speak English and explain things to you - Dr's in pretty much every private hospital will (should) be able to speak with you in English. 

 

As an idea, below is a list of the top hospitials I would use. 

- Bumrungrad

- Bangkok

- Samtivej

- Med Park

- BNH

 

It really depends on your location - Find the nearest private hospital. For a simple x-ray, all will be find. 

 

Most have an online appointment system or you can all up and make an appointment. 

Most should be able to 'fit you in' that day or the following day.

 

The issue of course is you'll need to book and appointment with a Dr. who'll then recommend an x-ray AFTER seeing you, and then you'll see the Dr after a follow up appointment - so you end up with 2 Dr's appointments and an X-ray.

Of course it seems expensive if you are comparing a Top Tier International Private Hospital in Bangkok with a provincial government hospital in Nan !!! 

 

I'm sure there are numerous cheaper clinics and public hospitals in Bangkok too...  

... Do the Dr's speak English there ? (part of the ops requirement).

Just curious - how much was the MRI ??

 

I just had two MRI's

- One at Bangkok hospital which was 10,000 baht. 

- Another at Burmrungrad (2nd opinion) which was 17,700 baht 

(both costs listed are package costs before physicians charges are added).

 

Dr's are more than happy to interpret the results from imagery taken at another hospital. 

 

Thus: as you mention, its possible to get an X-ray at a cheaper place and then go to a hospital where a Dr. will speak English and perhaps even do a better job of image analysis. 

 

There are a lot of good things said about Bangkok Christian Hospital too - so that is also an excellent option and much likely cheaper than the Hospitals I listed above. It's also very probable that the Dr's there will speak English.

Yes, many speak English there, especially the cardiologist who placed a stent in my right pulmonary artery last year. I put a post about my satisfaction of the procedure as well as the 4 day hospital stay and associated cost.

 

That was my first time ever going to a government hospital. However, I have experience with Ram and Bangkok hospitals in Chiang Mai and Burmrungrad in BKK. I will never waste my money on those high priced places again now that I know what to expect at a government hospital.

 

NOTE: I am aware hospitals are like anything else where some are better (or not as good) as others......So maybe I got lucky with the government hospital in Nan.

You can get xray at any hospital and also at some stand alone imaging centers.

 

Much more important than the Xray itself, which any place can do, is the doctor who reviews it and treats you.

Why not go back to the hospital which originally treated you, and put you in the cast?

Many 'Specialists' at govt. hospitals work one day a week, the rest they work at a private one. Hence take these pills come back next Thursday to see the Allergy doc., head doc., etc. etc. Surgeons as well.

Also Mission Hospital on Phitsanulok Road in Bangkok.

Any of the Bangkok hospitals can look after you.  I know bnh you can walk in Will have to see specialist but can get the x-ray and results quickly.

 

Do not go to government hosp like rajavithi they are chestnut it is an all day experience.

Sao Paolo are not bad either.  There is one at saphan kwai bts

My understanding is that a lot of government hospital doctors also work in the BH etc networks.

Not just that, but I think a lot of doctors have studied to some extent overseas in countries whose mother language is English.

 

I know the majority of the dentists I've been to have.
