Interesting update now that the entire Grand Jury report is available.  Takeaway is that the results of the Grand Jury were accidentally posted before they even finished.  The 19 defendants were mentioned the morning of, before the proceeding was completed that evening. 

 

Now, the rest of the report says the Grand Jury recommended indicting 39 people.  How, exactly, did they know which of the 39 were actually going to be indicted that morning if the fix wasn't in?

 

Trump may be guilty as sin, and that will come out in the trial.  But something stinks about the process.  Even if you completely disagree with these guys' analysis of the facts, the facts they lay out are disturbing.

Two defendants will get a speedy trial starting in October, but the others, including Donald J. Trump, can have more time to prepare, the judge ruled.

A judge on Thursday granted former President Donald J. Trump and 16 others a separate trial from two of their co-defendants who will go to trial next month in the Georgia election interference case.

 

A trial date for Mr. Trump and the other 16 co-defendants has not been set. In his order, Judge McAfee described what was to come as a “mega-trial.” But he also raised the possibility that those 17 might not all be tried together in the end, if some make successful arguments to break off their cases.

It will be a while now, if Trump's trial even goes ahead and makes it to trial. The RICO case is severely flawed as noted by some legal experts and now the judge is going to agree to separate trials which is a huge win for Trump.

The trial is going to be in the public domain, the first trial is going to get a lot of public viewing.

 

Trump’s lawyers are not going to be in court calling out objections or in any other way challenging evidence and testimony implicating Trump.

 

RICO cases are commonly divided into multiple trials, it’s nothing the courts and prosecutors can’t deal with, it’s all part of prosecuting RICO - Standard practice.

She is very clever and that may have been a play only. The logistics is a problem as they size of the court required does not even exist in Georga. The two starting early their trial will if nothing else become a daily drip of Trump's escapades which could not be at all helpful.

The judge overseeing the Georgia election interference case has severed the case, ordering that 17 defendants -- including former President Donald Trump -- will not be tried alongside speedy trial defendants Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell on Oct. 23.

 

In a blow to prosecutors, Judge Scott McAfee said severing the remaining 17 defendants was "a procedural and logistical inevitability," and did not rule out the possibility that "additional divisions" may be required later.

 

Trump has already waived his speedy trial rights.
