So you think LGBT retirees are all sexpats? LGBT is about identity.

You are entitled to your own opinion.  Not your own facts.

I may "identify" as a Greek God but that does not make me one.

As to this notion of acquiesing to those who "identify" as something other than they are biologically, I adhere to the same practice as I do to talking to the invisable friends of those that are schizopherenic.  I choose not further their delusion,

So gay people aren't gay according to you?

If I was one of your "gay friends" I'd be repulsed by your views that I'd been "integrated into the rest of society".  Gay people are as much part of society as anyone else and don't need to be allowed in by others.  This is the Jordan Peterson attitude. "We should try to help gays integrate into society." This is why we have Pride.

Why is it necessary for you that gays are exhibitionists who wave rainbow flags around and wiggle their bums at children? How very odd.

They are 'integrated into society'?   What..like rehabilated ex criminals?! Are you serious?!

So which gays are not intergrated into society exactly?  The ones that are too camp or the kind that wear skimpy shorts or make up?

You just  comfortable with the straight acting ones that will not stand out as gay and make you feel embarrassed to be seen with them?

Not at all. I mean that society doesn’t care about sexual orientation anymore and treats all as equals. But you knew that's what I meant anyway.

What a lot of nonsense. In the past, gays were discriminated against. They aren't anymore and rightly reach lofty heights in government and industry.

It's true that none of my gay friends are whining activists with chips on their shoulders, who harp on about obsolete injustices. But then again, who would want to associate with negative people like that?

I will never understand why everyone is so concerned about what other people do with their genitals and related areas.  who cares.

It's true that things have improved on the legal front and in business, mostly because of the drive by gay activists, but to pretend there is generally no discrimination now is absurd.

Just off the top of my head:

Anti-LGBT+ crime is on the increase..

LGBT+  people are still persecuted around the world in many countries.

Imprisonment and death sentencing still exist.

Abrahamic religions still treat homosexuality as a sin.

Being openly gay is still taboo in many sports

Anti discrimination laws against LGBT+ are being rolled back

Some Pastors in the U.S. advocate death or imprisonment for gays

The substantial amount of anti-gay sentiment on Twitter and newspaper comments.

And that's not even touching on trans issues.

The fact that a gay man can now run a large corporation is besides the point. I bet Tim Cook still gets his share of abuse anyway.

Well, maybe you have formed your own little bubble around you, and are wearing blinkers, if you can't see that there is still much discrimination against LGBQ people.

Why not ask your gay pals what they think about the steep rise in homophobic attacks in the UK or America?

Or, how about the countries they are barred from going for work or holidays,  unless they wish to run the risk of being imprisoned or exicuted?

Or, are they are fine that Thailand will not recognise their marital status if they come here and they need legal decisions to be made of one of them is hospitalised or dies, or even to just apply for a marriage visa?

Online bullying and abuse is even worse for LGBQ people, together with higher suicides, depression and mental illness. Does that come out of equality in society?

Some people will always find opportunities to be a victim, and they'll blame personal failure on this and that pretext, but that's probably because they never had the wherewithal to be successful in the first place. It's more an attitude and aptitude problem than anything else. It has nothing to do with bedroom preferences, and hasn't done for many years now.

Meanwhile, gays and lesbians are doing great jobs running major corporations, government ministries, police forces, and everything else.

I did not say that.  You were the one who said that it was about "identity"  Today the politically correct term is called "identity"  Years ago the same actions was called by its correct term.
Make Believe

If this was a natural phenomena it would also be true througout the animal kingdom.  However natural selection took over and things didn't work out very well for the fish to self identified as a sheep and went ashore.

You are absolutely correct.  I am 100% certain that no one on earth cares about my sexual preference, or behavior.  I have no delusions about that.

Why a huge proportion of the LGTB community think that the rest of the world cares about theirs is a mystery. It must be part of the mental disparity that  leads them in that direction.

I have the opinion that the public declaration is a "need" for affirmation about a lifestyle they are not  not to convince others is fine, but to remove their personal doubts by seeking public approval.  The constant need to inject someone's sexual orientation, is no different than the constant interjection of someones race into the conversation.  Irellevant

They're not encouraging any behaviors.

They are welcoming LGBT people to retire in Thailand as there are economic benefits to Thailand if more do so.

That said its unfortunate that you hold such a bigotted view.

You are correct that great progress has been made in many countries.

In other countries there has been backtracking as in the US and more extreme cases like Russia and Sudan.

Other than Apple what major corporations have gay CEOs?

My pushback to your post is simply to disagree with your assertion that homophobia is over so there is no further need to fight for civil rights.

Homophobia will never be over similarly to antisemitism and racism that will never be over.

We see vile unashamed homophobia expressed daily on this very forum!

Your narrative reminds me of right wingers saying racism is over in the US because Obama had been president.

The opposite is actually true.

Obama's presidency helped fuel a fascistic white nationalist backlash represented by trumpism.

Why does every conversion with lefties boil down to Trump? I loathe the man, and think it's such a shame that such a big country like America can only offer it's electorate Biden or Trump.

Your posts are riddled with the same old predictable labels that the left typically use to smear rather than debate sensibly: homophobia, far-right, racism, Trumpism, antisemitism, etc. Don't you have anything to say that might illustrate your points a little more articulately?

Slain dragon syndrome is a common problem. Even when the battle is won, some people just can't stop fighting and look for enemies where they no longer exist. I have gay friends, and gays rightly occupy similarly high positions in society as everyone else, now get over it.

Firstly, the Thais don't care what you (or I) think is wrong. They only care about what works. It's daft to think that this is being done to be woke. Like all good tourism it's for the money.

You still miss the point.  You only have a limited amount of money to spend to market.  A smart person focuses that on the target market that will have the greatest value.

Sure you welcome all customers.  However money spent to attract LGTBQ is money not spent to attract wealthy from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Japan, and Kuwait to name a few.  PS there are more of them than LGTBQ, they have more money per capita, and they are geographically close.  Also concentrated unlike the 7% of the LGTBQ community that is spread across the globe.

Note what happened to Budweiser when it focused mypopically with Dylan Mulvaney.  Did it increase sales.  Hardly, it alienated others.  I can tell you I was on one of those cruises that you spoke about.  Each day we had a circular stuffed with the events of the day focused on LGTBQ.  Each day there was a flag raising ceramony to raise the pride flag.  Each day each entertainer started and interjected their performance special recognition to the LGTBQ community.  Each day there was a special pool party just for the LGTBQ.  Had the cruise line did the exact same thing but focused exclusively on being straight.  They would be criticised. Candidly I would find them equally wrong.  On a ship with upwards of 2,500 passengers those special activities were attended by at best 50 passengers.  So was the marketing effort and thousands of dollars expended to be woke financially worth it.

You take no action that will cause you to alienate a customer, tourist, or a potential customer or tourist.  When you show favoritism to one based soley on their sexual preference you are treading on dangerous territory.

Yes you welcome all irrespective of race, religion, political affiliation, or sexual orientation.  But when you treat one of those markedly different strictly to be "woke" that is wrong.

If I was running a resort and wanted its customer base to be predominately LGTBQ, then the marketing should be focused on them.  If I wanted the resort to be predominately asean oriented I would market predominatly to Asean countries.  One needs to just look at places like Atlantic City that focused on only gamblers and the unintended consequences that came with that. Thailand is already attempting to change its image to a more family and less sexually oriented tourist destination.  I hardly think that any marketing effort that is focused strictly based on sex will further that goal.

Its painfully obvious that you're biased against LGBT people being visible in the world.

Your business arguments don't add up when it comes to tourism in a place like Thailand.

Places with higher than usual numbers of LGBT people attract many others in many parts of the world.

Look.at Puerto Vallarta.

The most popular destination in Mexico for LGBT people and massively popular with most everyone else as well.

You suggest Thailand is offering something special to LGBT people. Like special visa allowances targeted at nationalities. Nope. Nothing special is being offered. In fact less as there isn't marriage equality here.
