Or once you have started the term of coverage, is it not possible to cancel?

    I'm guessing that you mean you want to cancel and get a refund even though the cover has started?

    Maybe not full refund...

     

    Or maybe on a monthly deal, pay for one month then just cancel the direct debit.

    How much did you pay? Once the insurance is active, you might be able to cancel. But don't hold your breath expecting any sort of refund.

    Yes, there are pay monthly plans that you can cancel after the first month.
