One of the highlights of Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin’s one-day visit to Phnom Penh on Thursday was the hand-over of a Thailand-funded centre for victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups to the Cambodian government.

The Transit and Reception Centre for Victims of Trafficking and Other Vulnerable Groups, located in Poipet city, Banteay Meanchey province, was built with financial support from the Thai government.

Em Chan Makara, spokesman for the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, said Thursday that the construction of the centre began in August last year and was completed last month.  The centre was built with the help of the Thai government at a cost of US$2,199,920.

Thailand is heavily involved in the slave trade and the kidnapping of people for use within the fishing trade. This has been very well documented. Have they gone after the very well connected slave traders? No. Why? There seems to be a lack of conviction. And Cambodia is not going to help. That place is run by a land grabbing, ex Kymer Rouge serial killing leader, posing as a democratically elected PM.

With respect, the Head of State for Cambodia is King Norodom Sihamoni. The new Prime Minister is now Hun Manet. He is Khmer but never Khmer Rouge. He was educated in the West - UK and USA. His government is now establishing new links with the West, along with many other nations. Yes, his father is Hun Sen who is now an elderly man and sits behind "offering advice"!

Yes, and he was appointed by his father. And the royals in Cambodia have zero power. Sen stole that from them.
