Mostly home cooking from scratch, so hard to really spend much vs processed packaged foods. On a non 0 for retirement, don't use agent, so 65k required every month, and we live on about 30-40k, closer to 30, so no need to stick to any budget. Actually save more than we spend monthly.Did you enquire at your IO about the Combo Method ie 400k in the bank and 35k monthly.

Besides, my Soc Sec comes anyway monthly to the bank, and is enough for the non 0 retirement financials.Matter fact, popped into the bank today, after today's deposit, and made a withdraws, as next deposit would require me to file a FBAR, and have no desire to have any contact with IRS.

March 6Mar 6 No matter what the fish n'chips afficionados claim, nothing better then freshly cooked indian food in a reliable and reasonably priced restaurant of course.

But as I am sometimes to lazy, I'd rather grab a visit to some of my favorite indian joints as when in Thailand, I do indulge my self. Absolutely no picking on the fine Chefs who do make the food at home and if you know any who would like to have me over, I'd willingly and gratefully accept the invite. 🤣

That's just foolish 😊 A bit of horseplay is okay. But many are unable to control themselves and get nasty. Limited intelligence, I believe.

Plus the frozen ones why buy at tasty enough, and easy. Don't really have the freezer space. And on Indian curry, sadly, best I've had, is a Chicken Tikka Masala, from 7-11 Actually my 'go to' hot meal, if getting one from 7-11. Haven't had good luck with Indian joints, even highly recommended ones. And I love curries, well, Malay/Thai Massaman versions especially.

Does not even contain basmati rice. A good Indian curry can be very tasty. I do like a Rendang and Massaman.

Too delicate a flavor to add much more than light dusting of seasoning, and of course, more butter. An insult to serve on a hot dog bun (Lobster Roll), and deserving of a Butter Croissant. Didn't even bother warming the croissants in microwave as pretty fresh.

Dependent on the size, perhaps four to six minutes in a microwave oven. Cut to size, Cubes are fine. Toss in olive oil and herbs and then into the oven at around 340 F. Delicious.Don't insult your steak with paper fries. 😊 Post-microwaved potatoes will keep in the fridge ready for roasting. Even better, toss them in your olive oil/herb/spice mix before storage and let the flavours seep through over time.

Emphasis on the lazy part, as too much work, (your version), as potatoes here, TH, are poor quality to start. Roasting chips aren't as good as deep fried IMHOThey are 96% potato, and probably better than what is offered fresh in TH. I'm a LPOS when it comes to some thing. Chips being one of them.If doing anything with fresh, it would be simply nicely spiced roasted potato wedges or mashed potatoes, even home fries or hash browns.I've seen different was to 'upgrade' frozen chips. From nuking for one minute or quick blanche, then rough them up for more crispy surface area before frying.Nah, just cook / fry at correct temp is fine. Thicker 10mm chip though, as anything smaller, might as well eat crisps.
March 23Mar 23 32 minutes ago, Jeff the Chef said:That's a recipe for Parmentier Potato, not chips, still far better than frozen stuff.Parmentier are very small cubes. For steak, I would cut larger chunks. Fluffy on the inside, with a nice crunch on the outside when done. You can make chips in much the same way, without the herbs and the need to deep fry. Cubes possibly easier for people to do than chips, as the potato may disintegrate dependent on how fluffy they are prior to roasting/air frying. I'm guessing that he has an oven or an air fryer. Though as you state, the point is them being far better than frozen supermarket fries...and in my opinion that anyone can do them relatively quickly.I'm of the opinion that men should have some skills in looking after themselves, even if they have a woman helping out.Recipe can be adapted for all sorts. Patatas Bravas, Lemon potatoes, Parmentier, as you mentioned...The world is your potato...or it is the potato is your oyster? 😊
