Thailand to bid to host 2028 World Pride

Thailand will bid to host World Pride in 2028, to reflect the country’s acceptance of and open mindedness regarding LGBT+ issues.

 

Government spokesperson Chai Wacharonke quoted Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin as saying that his government will fully support the bid and, if the country is selected, he would allocate budget for the hosting of the event. The event would also help boost the economy and tourism, Srettha said.

 

The 2024 World Pride event will be held in Australia. In 2025 it will be in the US and the Netherlands in 2026.

Considering the large amount of LB all over Nana and the country,  not surprising that the Rainbow warriors wish to party in Thailand. Doesn't bother me as long as things are clearly established that they keep on their side and no sudden surprises from behind the back ...

 

The claims to boost economy and tourism always jut on everything and nothing. The solution however is simple. Make immigration issues, bureaucratic formalities or plainly opening a bank account less a hassle for all the snowbirds, tourists or retirees to start with who are big spenders here.

 

Stop asking for those absurd residence certificates, quadruple certifiel-notorized-translations or TM 30's for instance ? 😁

Gay marriage is boosting economies all over the world in the countries that have accepted it.. Thailand however could have accepted a long time already but deays it year after year.. A bid for the World  pride in 2028 is too early I think as the country has to show that the LGBTQ+ movement is fully accepted with equal rights for several years... So start with the Gay Marriage asap

If so the obvious big uestion will be whether foreigners married to same sex Thais will be allowed to get marriage extensions.

I hope they get it.  Better chances methinks if the parliament passed legislation allowing for legal civil unions between same sex partners.  Then TAT can promote the new "Gay?  Get Married In Thailand!!!" promotion.

My opinion is different. Gay people are simply people with a less common sexual preference. That's quite minor in the grand scheme of things. It doesn't make them "not normal", it just means their sexual preference is outside the mainstream. I wouldn't judge anyone based on their sexual preference as long as it isn't harming anyone. It is such a small part of who we are, it's close to irrelevant. 

 

There's quite a number of gay guys/gals in our social circle and I feel there's much more in common than the differences. So to me, they are simply just people. 

 

As for pedophiles - and I cannot believe you compared gays to pedophiles - they do considerable harm in acting out their sexual preference, these people are destroying lives, so no - they aren't normal people, they are vile predators. Gays are not.
