Strikes on south Gaza: BBC verifies attacks in areas of ‘safety’

Since the Israeli military issued the first of several instructions for civilians to evacuate north Gaza, hundreds of thousands of Gazans have moved to the south of the strip. But the south has continued to come under Israeli bombardment, leading the UN and other aid organisations to warn that nowhere in Gaza is safe for civilians.

To better understand the risk to civilians in south Gaza, BBC Verify has identified and analysed four specific instances of strikes in that region. We also looked at some of the warnings and evacuation instructions that were issued to Gazan civilians, including some advising them to move to certain areas in the south.

Some of these warnings were accompanied by maps with arrows pointing to vaguely defined areas to move towards. Three strikes we examined hit within, or close to, those areas in the days after the warnings were issued.

The IDF has said that it communicates with Gaza's residents in a variety of ways, including leaflet drops, social media posts in Arabic, and warnings issued through civilian and international organisations. In this piece we have examined the IDF's instructions posted on social media.

Oh dear, that's got to be embarrassing to Sunak. He can hardly come out and accuse them of lying, given every report I've seen on tv by the UN says that "safe areas" are being attacked, as well as attacks on people trying to get to the safe areas.

Perhaps he should have waited a while before rushing to israel to offer netanyahu his unconditional support.

If he wants to see what the British people think he can look at VDO of how many people were protesting on the weekend.

Can you link to that report of the UN saying there were attacks on people trying to get to safe areas?

How many of the people participating on them protest have voting rights? How many are potential Conservative voters?

These are not protests, they are hate marches, the Home Secretary Suella Braverman has described these marches as Hate Marches.

  • Popular Post

At the expense of innocent lives Israel appears to have abandoned any meaningful humanitarian consideration of humanitarianism . There is an expansion of popular protest against Israel.

If that continues to spread in Islamic  nations  it is very likely to become a major issue beyond the control of "visiting " people in suits expressing  various opinion which for the most part is neither heard or acknowledged  by enraged ideological masses .

When the result of Israeli strikes on an apparently beguiled civilian population who complied with instruction to move  to "safe" areas is demonstrated to be deceptive there can be no excuses or explanations that will overcome the rage it invokes.

We have serious concerns that these are disproportionate attacks that could amount to war crimes, the UN said on Wednesday.

Consider your source... the U.N. is not that reliable

At least they are there to report what is happening, and in many cases getting blown up as well.

Would you rather believe the israelis?

You are aware that there is a difference between alleging 'war crimes', and legally proving 'war crimes' were committed, right?

How many would these be?
