riclag Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 I live up here in Sakon Nakhon . I lived here full time for 5 years! I enjoy cutting my grass , its good exercise! I bought a new Euro petrol powered 22 inch mower over 4 years ago at Watsadu. Difficult to get parts! Sometimes months in waiting My next mower will be a brand with parts easily obtainable! That being said, How about Hasqvarna? Any suggestions ? Your thoughts?
Mike Lister Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 I have a 10 year old Briggs and Stratton that I bought new, I change the oil every couple of months and it's still going fine. Many of the body parts have fallen off or been replaced, it's surprising what extra things they put on mowers that really aren't essential. I get replacement Briggs and Stratton engine parts from a local shop in Chiang Mai but some are available on Lazada also. Another shop carries bushing and clips for the body of the mower which are easy to fit. The biggest problem was the frame or body of the mower which I had to brace and strengthen, now that I have it's also fine. It really comes down to the engine and the availability of parts, Honda and B&S are not a problem but lesser known makes will be. If/When I rebuy I'll either go with a genuine Honda mower (there's only one model in Thailand) or anything with a genuine B&S engine. There's an outfit in Bangkok called VB Engines that is the main B&S importer, you may want to look at what they have, their Raptor range looks very good and is sensibly priced. https://www.raptertool.com/ 1
In the jungle Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 Honda HRJ216. Expensive. All parts readily available from a Honda dealer and the boss daddy of walk behind lawn mowers in Thailand. I have an HRJ216 as my back up mower. The mower I use most is an imported Honda ride on mower but some parts may need to be imported from abroad hence the back up mower. Thankfully I have not needed any imported parts for the ride on in the last decade. Anything less that 2 rai don't bother with the HRJ216. It would be overkill. 1
SingAPorn Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 How about a robot lawnmowe ? Far better- it does the job for you and you won't risk stumbing into a snake.

Mike Lister Posted November 2, 2023 Posted November 2, 2023 Every time I cut my grass, I ask myself if 100K or 200k lawnmowers would do the job any better than my 18k jobbie, the answer is always no. Really, it's all about looking after what ever you get and servicing it regularly. BTW totally agree about the exercise. 1 1

I considered that but in Thailand I think there is a high probability it will be stolen. I know they have security measures such as PIN codes but the thief probably will not know that.
