So, you too have little sympathy for the Palestinian? The 40 something percent of Palestinians 14 and under?

War is hell, dont start one. Could be worse, they could be fighting Russians.

And the government of Israel and the IDF have clean hands and would never harm a soul?

They would not under any circumstances for example use armoured bulldozers, tanks, ground attach aircraft, helicopter gunships to attack a Palestinian refugee camp on the west bank. That would be a war crime and/or a crime against humanity, wouldn't it?

Nor would they for example enforce a land, sea and air blockade against an entire people, cut off all food, water, electricity, medicine and then use armoured bulldozers, tanks, ground attach aircraft, helicopter gunships to attack the entire population of that country, indiscriminately murdering ALL men, women and children, terrorists or not. That would also be a war crime and/or a crime against humanity, wouldn't it?

Yet the IDF do this every day under the orders of Netanyahu , a war criminal, and his warmongering government.

All the world does is wring its collective hands and complain about the Hamas terrorists,

BUT NO country is willing to step on and stop it.

The USA and probably Iran could stop it by simply stopping arms supplies to each side.

The UN could probably stop it by putting a force into place, BUT they cannot because of the 5 permanent members, US, UK, Russia, France and the CCP of China all have a veto, and only one veto is needed to stop ANY intervention.

Meanwhile the slaughter on each side goes on and neither side seems to be sick of killing the people on the other side.

Another outing.

The elephant in the room is Iran. While israel/ america would likely win in any war, it would result in American boys coming home in body bags in an election year. Something Biden is likely to want to avoid.

You are in danger of your arguments being ridiculed for the nonsense they are.

I recommend shouting ‘anti-American’ and ‘anti-Semitic’ more often and louder.

Oh and of course point fingers at the political left.

Well it isnt the Political right marching through the streets screaming kill the Jews. Looks like some of those preprinted signs are done up by such popular organizations as the "Democratic Socialists" and their Leninist ilk.

So who is spouting nonsense now?

I doubt very much you have any evidence on the political affiliation of people who you tell us are ‘ marching through the streets screaming kill the Jews’.

It is widely acceptable that Hezbollah's regional policy is controlled/dictated by Iran. So when things are said by leadership, they reflect Iran's views.

Guess you missed the parts of the speech where it was said this war was a 100% Palestinian thing, not a regional one. Or the distancing of both Iran and the Hezbollah from direct involvement in the attack or having previous knowledge.

Guess you can still hope, though.

Remind me which nation did the USA manage to bring down in a week? Granada maybe?

Iraq was weaker than Iran, the USA had more international support and it took way longer.

There is no upside to Iran getting directly involved in this war, and numerous upsides for them not doing so.

The war is already causing political strains in Washington, London and elsewhere, Iran can simply sit and watch as those play out.

Good news for you then. The Hezbollah want to reel in Israel by expanding the war and upping the carnage. Oh yeah, that is a sure winnner.

One has to look at the reasons Hezbollah want to attack israel to understand the conflict. Without understanding the reasons it's pointless discussing the result.

Those fighters didn't just wake up one morning hating israel without a good reason.

Yeah. They did. Their reasons are generalized Jew Hatred and hatred of the West as well as the primitive barbarism of their culture. Islam has been at war against non Muslims since its inception.

Ignore the obvious as well as history. Leftism=antisemitism

Do the pictures include membership details of leftwing organizations or are they pictures of people you assume to be leftwing?

As things stands, I agree no upside.

But they lose a whole lot of credibility (both Iran and the Hezbollah) basically sitting it out, what with all the hot air on offer earlier.

Arab social media is having a ball with this.

I don't know that the political strain (if that's what they are, and if they're significant)  play especially well for Iran.

Maybe the opposite.

One would expect someone making such a comment to have more to say on this.

Since you do not provide anything of substance relating such an 'understanding' I agree your comment is pointless.

Can you point out the anti-Semitic bit and the calls ‘to kill the Jews’ that you were referring to?

It’s almost certain that Iran at least approved the Hamas attacks, which begs the question what did Iran hope to gain?

The most rational argument I’ve heard is the interruption and destruction of US attempts to establish broader alliances in the Middle East and thereby further isolate Iran.

The increasing death toll in Gaza providing a wedge against alliance being created with Israel.

If that was Iran’s objective then, job done and nothing to be gained from joining the conflict.

The tragedy is lives lost and destroyed on both sides of the border. There is absolutely no way Hamas could understand anything other than killing and kidnapping Israelis would result in a overwhelming military response that would cost large numbers of Palestinians their lives.

The evidence is that this loss of Palestinian lives was part of their plan.

An utterly callous and twisted rational.

I wouldn't be so sure Iran approved the actual attack, or had clear knowledge it was about to go down. I think if that was so, their responses would be better organized.

US diplomatic efforts in the ME would be one obvious target. Others may be striking back at Israel for many past incidents, weakening Israel's image on a global and regional level, and promoting further internal divides among Israelis.

I also think that the original Hamas plan was much more ambitious - with intentions of invading deeper into Israel, and even holding out at places (probably with hostages). If that would have been successful, Iran might have been further encouraged to do more.

I don't think that, ultimately, the war (death toll and all) would serve to scrap Saudi Arabia-Israel normalization of relations. Delay it for sure, but not completely take it off the table. If anything, probably scared the Saudis even more from what Iran might do, while demonstrating it cannot be trusted.

The Gaza Strip is not the main obstacle on that front, the West Bank is.

It is no secret that Hamas agenda calls for 'sacrifices' (mainly of non-leaders) for the 'cause'. It's a religious movement, so no surprises. I think they did, however, miscalculated with regard to their own prowess, regional support, and Israel's response.
