webfact
A court has released on bail the owner of a ten-wheel truck that fell into a hole on Sukhumvit Road earlier this week. Wutipat Janjarintrakorn has been charged with instructing the truck driver to exceed the legal weight limit. He has denied any wrongdoing. Regarding the sticker on the truck, which featured the letter “B”, Wutipat claimed that “B” is, in fact, his nickname and it is an identifier so his trucks can enter construction sites. Earlier reports speculated that the sticker was an indication that bribes had already been paid, so his overloaded trucks would not be checked by police. Bangkok Barry
As so often in Thailand, an excuse that a five year old would make up about the sticker. How did he explain the overweight? Oh, he didn't. Deny deny deny. All a misunderstanding I suppose. 1

Popular Post RobU
This whole thing is to divert attention from the incompetence of the people who designed and placed the covers. Any vehicle could have dislodged those covers. The fact that the truck was overloaded is incidental. In the previous incident where a pickup dislodged covers and fell into a hole the pickup was not overloaded Edited November 13, 2023 by RobU Additional comments
brianthainess
Only a 25 ton limit, what if 2 trucks were on it side by side ? Incidentally that crane would weigh more than that IME, the limit in OZ is 40t and we had to struggle to get the weight, down to that, by devious means, of, very little fuel, just enough hydraulic oil for it to work , and reduce the amount of steel cable on the drum, whether he was overweight or not is immaterial IMO, 25t is not a lot, the road is sub standard end of. 1

Sydebolle
Fine the owner a six digit amount plus the repair costs of the road. Having said that, the BMA might also consider proper road construction as, despite this mishap, the roads of Bangkok should not just cave in like that. It takes no rocket scientist to see, if a truck is heavily overloaded; either it is completely overloaded or the truck is not in a roadworthy condition. The "B" for bribes is the icing on the cake - see police which are unable to protect Chinese tourists as they focus more on "more tipping please" ;-)
