nausea Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Boys will be boys, especially where drink is concerned, and bruises and broken noses are to be expected; but add knives to that mix, or, God forbid, guns; yeah, it's not good. 1 1

So what would you do? Close bars at 10PM? If you use your head even a little it would be clear that drinking hours are not the thing that creates the behavior of these kinds of people. They behave this way wherever they go, whenever they go. If the bars were closed they'd be doing it on some sidewalk somewhere. Maybe you should listen less to the voices in your head and pay a little more attention to how the world really works. 4 2 2 3 4

Popular Post Cabradelmar Posted December 4, 2023 Popular Post Posted December 4, 2023 Fault and cause aside, the one thing you can be assured of is that in bars frequented by large numbers of young Thais, the Thais are likely armed (mainly with knives but increasingly with guns). And if they aren't armed in the moment they will be soon once an argument breakouts. Foolishly is to argue, particularly, if you are a foreigner. Step back is the only and best advise. 2 3

PingRoundTheWorld Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 6 hours ago, stoner said: more proof extending drinking hours is desperately needed. Completely irrelevant. This happened in a Thai nightlife area that will not be part of the 4am extended closing times, not to mention this happened long before 4am. Young Thais brawling has nothing to do with extending closing times in tourist areas. 1

MangoKorat Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 The Thai police need to get on top of this quickly - not that they will. Things are getting notably worse and will start to affect tourism. I frequent clubs and bars and where there's alcohol, there will always be punch ups - goes with the territory unfortunately. Punch ups mind, not knifings and shootings!
Scouse123 Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 I've stayed in Samut Prakan many times and it's not a place where tourists go in numbers. It's very much a Thai-style place, or it is where I have been including bars and eateries. 1
