So last night around 9pm my 'queen' rabbit started stamping her feet.

Went out and found this monster in her nighttime enclosure.

Not sure if it was a danger to her or my kids, but it got the chop.

A bit strange looking, not sure what snake is, or if it's even a snake.

Sunbeam snake. Not venomous. Might bite - as will any cornered animal - but harmless to you, probably to adult rabbits too. Sad you saw fit to kill it :-(

Any snake near my rabbits will soon be a dead snake.

Thanks for the ID.

I agree with martin L , that is sad, but I also agree with you.

I also don' t know much about snakes, so when it comes to me and mine, i'd rather err on the side of caution.

I remember reading some place that Chickens and rabbits are snake magnets, not sure how true it is . but I am not willing to test it either.

My 'boss' rabbit definitely saw it as a threat, otherwise she wouldn't have called me for help.

Hard to tell what any snake is in the dark.

If I don't know what it is, and in the yard, then it won't end well for the snake.  Wife, dog & myself have no desire to die or lose a limb if bitten.

Agree, unless you can positively ID the snake, and definitely not a risk.

Guinea Fowl are pretty good snake managers too, and, unlike mongooses, they lay eggs

I suggest joining some snake groups in Thailand, excellent sources of information and educate yourself.....

There are specific groups for specific regions.

I found a gray snake in my Pennsylvania yard that I could not identify.   I played around with it a little bit until it became too aggressive trying to bite me, so I left it alone and it crawled off into the brush.

Later I found out it was  a timber rattlesnake.   What threw me off on identifying was no rattles.    Too young to have them I guess.

I agree with you. A harmless snake is a dead snake for me.

Maybe one day you will try killing a snake and it will get you.

It's a bit difficult to determine whether a snake is venomous or non-venomous at 9 pm.

It's not going to hang around until someone on ASEAN identifies it.

...and now I wonder if the snakes or the sad/confused emoticons are more scary. Seems they are following me like a shadow :cheesy:

This isndefinotely a Xenopeltis or sunbeam snake, a member of the revolutionary radiation, that gave us pythons and boas, but not classically a member of either group. This is a nonvenomous, burrowing predator, with a small.gape, and is therefore able to ingestbonly small prey, despite its ecological status as a dietary generalist. Sunbeams do have a reputation as ophiophages, or predators of other snakes. I never had much luck with imports of this species, but friends of mine found them to be easy once they were acclimatised and in good health.
