US Passport Renewal Update Information
I think the claim by Thai Post that the US Embassy does not accept mail after 1200 is not true. I just checked on the Thai Post website it indicates the renewal package was delivered today at 1430. I called Thai Post customer service twice this morning and I wast told it would be delivered in the morning. Ok, TIT. I have used Thai Post 3 times in 7 years and this experience has convinced me if there is a next time then I will have to find a DHL office that does domestic shipping. Now the real waiting begins and I hope it does not take the full 8 weeks. -

Wine Tax Cut in Thailand Triggers Consumption Surge, Controversy Thailand’s 2024 tax exemption on imported wine has triggered a 300% surge in mid-range wine consumption and over 10% growth in wine imports—mainly benefiting foreign producers. However, this boom has come at a cost: nearly 600 million baht in lost tax revenue and estimated social costs of over 10 billion baht due to increased accidents and domestic issues. Critics, including Senator Lae Dilokvidhyarat, argue the policy favours luxury consumers and harms public welfare, sparking debate over its long-term impact on Thailand’s economy and society. -

Australians Surrender to Pattaya Police After Street Brawl
Australians Surrender to Pattaya Police After Street Brawl Two Australian men, Carlos and Isaac, have surrendered to Pattaya police after a brawl with another foreigner outside a venue on Soi Buakhao. The fight, caught on video and shared widely online, reportedly began when the customer refused to pay his bill. Carlos claimed he held the man’s phone as collateral, leading to a physical altercation. The situation escalated further after the man allegedly returned and provoked the group. Police are investigating the case and checking Carlos’s work documents, while the injured party has yet to file a report.
