webfact
BANGKOK (NNT) - The Public Health Ministry has implemented a new regulation requiring vendors of food and drinks containing kratom to display a warning sign at their point of sale. The rule, effective as of Saturday (Dec 23) following its announcement in the Royal Gazette, is part of the amended Kratom Act 2022. The warning is specifically aimed at individuals under 18, as well as pregnant or breastfeeding women, advising against the purchase of this psychoactive product. The rule extends to both physical stores and online vendors, mandating clearly visible warning signs. In a related development, the Department of Disease Control (DDC) has proposed new legislation to regulate the sale of alcoholic beverages. This includes imposing stricter rules on advertising and promoting such drinks. The bill is currently under review by the public health minister before being presented to the cabinet. Once approved, it will be sent to the House of Representatives for further examination, along with other versions of the bill submitted by various business and temperance groups, according to DDC Director-General Thongchai Keeratihattayakorn. by: Krajangwit Johjit File photo for reference only Source: NNT 2023-12-26 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. JackGats
Let me guess. The warning for kratom will be passed. The warning for alcohol will be rejected or watered down.

Unless you brew C***g, in which case you can advertise it by pretending you're only promoting the mug and not the beer. Others face hundreds of thousand baht fines and/or prison for showing a logo on a restaurant menu. 1

The way I read it, no new warning is being discussed for alcohol labels and at point of sale, but stricter regulations about advertising and promotion.

The even stricter rules now being discussed are the ones that will be enforced if and when they are approved. It's a bit difficult to envision how the current rules can be made even stricter but I'm sure they will find a way if they put their minds to it.
ThaiFelix
Doent matter, it will still be available in a brown paper bag at any mums n pops. nausea
Krathom trees grow wild here, even in urban areas, and many Thais know exactly where they're located; good luck with trying to control its use. Anyway, it's a pretty mild stimulant, never heard of anyone going Krathom crazy; my SO uses it when she has some particularly onerous physical task to perform. Sydebolle
How about publishing everything else in the gazette like traffic rules, driving under influence and mandatory driving lessons by experts, first half in a court yard and the rest on the streets? How about doing away with racism like looking down on dark skinned people (Khaek); some Thai citizen living here in fourth and fifth generation which arrived from South Asia? How about streamlining and tremendous bureaucracy to make the Thai people understand, that the government is elected by them and hence has to serve the electorate - and not the other way round?
