Why did Saddam had to go? Sure he was a bad actor but the world was and is full of bad actors and we don't take them out, Why Saddam?

If you were to pull Saddam's pants down on his ass there was a USDA stamp and a made in the US stamp. We didn't seem to mind when he was gassing the Kurds  with gas we had given him, We in fact run interference for him when the deed was reported in the world news.

What was he doing now that he was not doing then?  The truth of the meter is that the US needed a fall guy and Saddam was a convenient soft target.

The US only invades soft targets.

With the additional benefit of many in the US getting very wealthy. What do you think happen to all those billions that were unaccounted for?

On the subject of Ukraine before the war Ukraine was considered to be one of the most corrupt countries, then we are to believe that after the invasion they became angels at the beginning of the war?

I wonder how many in Ukraine have become fantastically rich from the US? How many more millions Zelenski has in his secret offshore accounts?

Totally agree. All this lies about WMDs sent by the Pentagon to build support for a totally illegal war. You cannot legally invade a nation because the leaders are anti-US. If you allow this line of reasoning, why is it wrong for Russia to invade Ukraine that has anti-Russian leaders?

@sirineou

What 'secret offshore accounts'?

The Panama Papers itemised Zelensky's ac counts and those held by close relatives. The political will was obviously not there to hold Mr Z to account.

Because of American exceptionalism.

We think that the axiom of "what's good for the goose is good for the gander" does not apply to the US.

I think it is a sight more than $1 billion and I am sick, as a taxpayer, of having to fund this finical disaster in Ukraine. Cut all aid now.

Slava Russia.

Vote for Trump or DeSantis.

Bush, Cheney and the rest of that conspiracy should tried in some court for that. But knocking off a war criminal is always ok. And don't have to invade a country for that task.

So  $ billions of weapons getting lost, some no doubt ending up with terrorists. "So what" The Southern border invasion in the US costing billions. "So what" Anarchy/mass looting in the liberal saps run cities."So what"

Both of which could be prevented with an Army Corps of Engineers WALL from the Pacific to the Gulf. And sending the military into cities to restore order. Providing the US gets the president it needs: RFK jr. DeSantis, or Trump. Preferred DeSantis. That's what.

Nothing in your link indicates that weapons were diverted or lost.

Everything is so much easier in hindsight.

Hindsight? Speak for yourself regarding Billions and 20 years trying to reform a 12th century country. Where just built schools are promptly blown up by the Taliban.

Hey, chicken little... Go back and check how well US supplied equipment has been tracked in previous conflicts. You might find out you are dealing with an institutional problem rather that a current news event. The return of 45 would make zero difference.

Agree but it remains to be seen if Trump or DeSantis can correct this institutional mess

Ah, that could have been spoken by a true blue, "we know what is best for other people imperialist". No foreign power has ever succeed in that country, and the west were stupid for thinking they could. They should have gone in and destroyed the taliban, then got out of it. More fools us for going along with it.

Seems some never learn from history. Twenty years, many lives and billions of $ wasted for nothing.

I will be voting for anyone except a Democrat.

I won't be voting for any of those phonies.

I can't, but if I could, I would go with the largest group in the US electorate and sayi.... Thanks but No Thanks. To all of them.

Taylor Swift would have to dress up in something very comfortably, to sway me.

  • 2 weeks later...

Funny how these American most ly neocons never have a bad war whilst prosecuting hugely expensive and ultimately fruitless wars in foreign lands always combined with resource greed and then have the gall to criticise the same behaviour from others. Plus they never learn that some peasant in funny clothes with thrift shop weapons can embarrass and frustrate them on that quest. But not really funny but bloody tragic.

They are evil -  more finessed and coiffed and elegant with their Harvard MBA's than the say the thug Putin but evil nevertheless. Only psycophathic sociopaths get to the very top in a hyper power - and they achieve that by deluding and scaring the great masses with their lies and deceptions..
