3 ways to make TV/AN a more pleasant and more useful experience
That won't stop people being ignored though. AFAICS ignoring a poster generally, at least to me, means that I don't see any of their posts, unless somebody else responds to that poster. Generally I get a notice that I have ignored that poster, but gives me the option of reading that particular post or taking the poster off my ignore list, plus something else. What I have been doing in the last few weeks, even before I read the posts, is checking who the OP is and what the topic is. Many times before I have opened the post to find that I have no interest in the topic or the responses, so I then dump the topic and move on to something else. -

Terrifying Moment! Parents and Children Inches from Death Under Elephant’s Belly
The Thai people should be ashamed how they treat Elephants World Animal Protection Assessed 3837 elephants in 357 venues across Asia and found that 63% were living in severely inadequate conditions. When not performing, they were restrained by short chains in noisy, dirty conditions, had poor diets, and received very limited medical care. Training elephants to perform tricks and activities for tourists is both unnatural and harmful. ‘Trainers’ use cruel, punishment-based training, including hitting them with sticks or sharp metal objects. Elephants are often kept in isolation. Elephants are very social, so separating young elephants from their mothers causes severe trauma, especially when they are then restrained with chains to exhaust them while they become used to being isolated. This can lead to symptoms of PTSD. Elephants used for tourism in Thailand fuels the cruelty we’ve just mentioned. Companies train elephants to fulfil the demand for elephant experiences and close encounters with these wild animals. Elephant tourism also makes elephants a valuable commodity. Elephant breeders can charge large sums for each calf. This is a form of wildlife farming, where these wild animals are seen solely in terms of profit with no thought for their wellbeing. Although the welfare of these elephants is our primary concern, captive elephant experiences also pose a significant danger to humans. More people are killed or severely injured by captive elephants than any other captive wild animal. Currently, one person is killed on average for each male elephant being held in captivity. As well as these direct killings, close contact with captive elephants can pass dangerous diseases such as tuberculosis to tourists and handlers.- 1

Those on lower fixed rate mortgages (arranged a few years previously ) would have bought the average rate down , is what I meant -

Keir Starmer’s Leadership Under Fire: Poll Predicts Exit Within a Year
The original poster you quoted said his mortgage rate in 1990 was 15.4%. You said that was wrong. The link I posted shows he wasnt wrong. You now say only new mortgages would pay that. The link I posted shows the rates as variable rates. So, no, not just new mortgages but those on variable rates also. If you read the link fully, you'll see fixed rates were averaging over 13%. Well above your unsubstantiated figures. Once again, the poster you quoted is correct. You are incorrect to question him/her. As my link proves. -

3 ways to make TV/AN a more pleasant and more useful experience
Snipped from your post. Is the decline in this forum a result of: 1 - changes in ownership? 2 - changes in the character of expats in Thailand? 3 - changes in Western culture that are merely reflected here? IMHO I think that it is 1 and 2 with 3 as an outsider. So why are so many on this forum spending so much time trying to pollute a perfectly suitable channel like this? Unless ... unless ... unless they are paid or otherwise compensated to ruin it? IMO there are posters on the forum with nothing better to do so threads are opened just for the sake of something to do. There are only a limited number of topics that can be discussed, after which they get repeated ad nauseum I don't think that anybody is paid or compensated to ruin the forum but I think that the last2 owners see it as a money making machine judging by the number of ads that seem to be posted. I don't know anybody who actually buys things that are advertised. I also think that advertisers are given the latest number of posters rather than the actual number of regular posters, which is probably not the same thing/ People quit or die off and TBH I think that it would be nice to know how many people do post regularly against the overall head count. -

24,000 BTU AC Recommendation?
Next time I will try TCL inverter. I have 2 24,000 BTU Panasonics and one 18,000 BTU Panasonic. I would NOT buy these again. Dealing with Panasonic is extremely stressful here. Life is just too short. So, better option might be to go with TCL if TCL is as good and CHEAP as many have said it is. Then, if something goes wrong.....you can just discard it and get another one, and buy two or even three for the same cost as a Panasonic unit. Maybe this is the best way to buy ACs in Thailand?
