Tragedy struck as two young men’s night ride on a motorcycle ended in a fatal crash. A 22 year old lost his life when the bike skidded off a dark, curve-ridden road in Samut Songkhram province. His 27 year old friend suffered serious injuries and is now in a coma. The incident happened on the evening of February 25, when the pair were returning from a visit to a friend’s place.

The Samut Songkhram rescue team, along with the local police, responded to the distressing scene on the unlit Nam Lun Ton Lam Pan Road in the Amphawa district. They found the deceased lying by the roadside, his neck broken and his head severely injured. Nearby lay the wreckage of their Honda Wave motorcycle, bearing the license plate number กง 6860 Phetchaburi, thoroughly damaged from the crash. The 27 year old man was discovered with a broken left arm and multiple abrasions, quickly rushed to Somdej Phra Phutthaloetla Hospital for urgent medical attention, reported KhaoSod.

Initial investigations revealed that both victims were Myanmar nationals, suggesting that unfamiliarity with the treacherous stretch of road may have contributed to the accident. The motorcycle appeared to have failed to negotiate a bend, causing the rider to lose control and both to fall by the wayside. Following the accident, law enforcement officials have initiated an inquiry and are taking the necessary legal steps.

A similar event was reported early this month. In Phuket, a 33 year old man lost his life in a tragic motorcycle accident early this morning. Identified as Sutthisak, he crashed his Honda Wave I motorcycle on a sharp curve near Wat Khatu in the Khatu district. Despite efforts by police and emergency services, Sutthisak succumbed to fatal head injuries at the scene.

Authorities suspect high speed and loss of control led to the devastating crash. Read more about the high-speed motorcycle crash on Phuket road.

More first class reporting from The Thaiger. A photo of the bike with it's number blurred out, and then Nearby lay the wreckage of their Honda Wave motorcycle, bearing the license plate number กง 6860 Phetchaburi.

The level of stupidity in this country is off the charts. And the sad thing is, they don't know how stupid they are. They would consider this nonsense to be perfectly normal.

Doesn't matter what nationality you are , if you are unfamiliar with the road , then drive/ride slower . I don't think it was the motor cycle failing to negotiate the bend , I think it would be the rider that failed to negotiate the bend and losing control of the motor cycle.

Public knowledge apparently with apparent zero action by the government/RTP to make that section safer. What about a couple of solar powered street lamps to highlight the stretch to provide awareness of its danger? How many injuries and lives are required for safer use?
