Samsung Washing Machines? And, appliances? Garbage compared to GE/Westinghouse/Maytag?

1. a very select few who listen to JS Bach, all the time

2. Seldom do I feel the need to wear clothes.  Bedclothes I cannot do without. 100-percent cotton, and no exceptions.

3.  What is your budget.  If you want very low cost, and reliable, then buy the machine I purchased. It's good for the money....

Not Maytag

I'm still confused. So which is really the best washing machine to buy in your opinion? And is the Rolling Stones album you suggested included with the machine or do you have to purchase it separately?

No need to bring my wife into the discussion. I'm looking for one that isn't powered by rice, but one that is powered by non-renewable fossil fuel energy.

If one is in my predicament, then I would suggest buying the SAME model of Samsung that I purchased, and have been satisfied with, for several months.

The 16 Kg capacity is fine, but I would not go lower, but only up, up, and away.

I think they offer an 18KG model, and I should have chosen that one, because larger capacity is always better for me.

But, I was afraid it might turn out to be overkill.

So, just buy the one I purchased, but make sure you do not need separate hot hose for water.

The machine has no pump to expel water, but I can do without that.

Inverter motor driving a beltles tub.

Very quiet.

So, I just need the basic stuff, with not much more.

I like Top loading, because I believe they might require less maintenance.

It is only a very basic low cost washing machine that washes clothes, and not much more.

Always listen to the Rolling Stones when you want to feel happy, or when in the mood to wash.

The band just gets better with age, and the band has produced a TON of music.

I don't understand. You aren't answering my question. You talk about various capacities, pumps, hoses, motors and belts. I don't need all that. Which is the best machine to buy???

This is the same type of question that very young children often ask.

And, children finally realize that there is no best.

There is only better for any given application.

I know what is best for me.

But, I might not know what is best for Harry, or Tom, or even Jane, for example.

If you were to use rain water from the roof, then you might need a pump with the machine that I purchased, because it requires water pressure above that which you might expect...

Unless your roof were on the 6th floor, and you were in the basement.

Then, you would have plenty of water pressure to operate this machine, and also a shower.

You would have super good pressure, in fact.

But I use a water pump made by Mitsubishi, and I am sorry I bought this model because, while the Samsung washing machine is super quiet...

The Misubishi noise is an outrage.

So, please be forewarned.

For what purpose will you use this information, if I provide it?

Which information? I haven't asked for any and you've provided too much already. But which is really the best washing machine to buy in your opinion?

I see.

Well, if you pose your question like that, then...

I HAVE NO opinion about which machine is best.

My opinion is that there is no best.

I think I have mentioned this truth, once or twice, in comments above.

Am I, once again, mistaken?

Thanks again for sharing your insights and experience, it’s really helpful, or at least I think it is, although I’m still not exactly sure how it applies in a more generalized laundry use context. Let me clarify my question.

Just to double confirm, not necessarily for me but more in the abstract sense of machine user compatibility across varying domestic water architectures, would you say your Samsung is the most optimal choice when considering both drum visibility and emotional resonance with prewash cycles?

Because I know you said 16kg was ideal for your needs, but then there was a mention of 18kg possibly being better in hindsight, which raises the question: is the limitation on capacity more of a personal laundry density preference, or would it also apply to someone using slightly thicker cottons or perhaps living at a different elevation?

Also when you say it’s the machine you would buy again if you lived to 100, is that more of a metaphor for long term durability or an actual endorsement relative to other machines available now but not necessarily those that might exist in a theoretical 100 year timeline?

Just want to be sure I’m absorbing the full implication before I look into options. Appreciate your clarity so far, just trying to map it to real world application in a more literal or possibly symbolic way.

So which washing machine would you suggest I buy, given all of the above?

Maybe it's actually best that you do not buy a washing machine.

Maybe it's best that you send your laundry out to have it professionally done.

That's not the advice I am needing or asked for. Try and keep up.
