Biggest Tory donor said looking at Diane Abbott makes you ‘want to hate all black women’

The Conservative party's largest donor, Frank Hester, has stirred controversy after making derogatory remarks about Diane Abbott, Britain's longest-serving black MP. Hester, who has contributed £10 million to the Tories over the past year, allegedly expressed sentiments suggesting animosity towards all black women upon seeing Abbott on television.

During a meeting, Hester reportedly stated that observing Abbott on TV made him "want to hate all black women" and even went as far as suggesting she "should be shot." Although Hester later attempted to clarify his remarks, claiming they were not motivated by gender or race, the comments have raised serious questions about workplace conduct and professionalism.

Hester, a businessman from West Yorkshire, heads the healthcare technology firm, the Phoenix Partnership (TPP), which has garnered substantial contracts from the NHS and government entities, totaling over £400 million since 2016. Despite his significant financial contributions to the Conservative party, Hester's remarks have cast a shadow over his role in bankrolling the party's general election campaign.

In response to the backlash, TPP issued a statement emphasizing Hester's condemnation of racism and attempts to apologize to Abbott directly for any offense caused. However, the incident has reignited discussions about workplace culture at TPP, with reports of a stringent environment characterized by exacting rules and abrupt dismissals of high-achieving graduates.

Amidst the controversy, Hester's lawyers have defended his character, highlighting his positive contributions to the workplace, including generous perks and remuneration. Nonetheless, former TPP employees have voiced concerns about turnover rates and alleged mistreatment, prompting scrutiny into the company's operations.

While Hester's donation to the Conservative party underscores his support for the political establishment, his comments and the subsequent fallout serve as a reminder of the complexities surrounding workplace behavior and the responsibility of donors to uphold inclusive values.

If you wish to argue Dianne Abbot is a racist, go ahead make a fool of yourself.   It would be a nice deflection from the argument that Hester is an idiot for letting his racism be known.

  • Dianne Abbott is a racist and terrorist organisation supporter herself...........🤗

Perhaps the Tories can draw a line under this by returning the donations to the overt racist Hester and the Governed reconsider his roll in receipt of £ hundreds of millions of tax payers money.

The latter might need to wait until after the election.

May is my punt.

The man is an idiot.

Whilst I can think of no circumstances where Diane Abbots acumen could be an asset to the nation, or indeed to a Labour Government, for a prominent Tory to go around saying things like that, given the likely electoral mess they are facing, is just stupid.

It makes you wonder whether Conservative Central Office are running special courses - surely no one could be that stupid naturally?

I haven't been following this, when I saw the headline I thought it was about Robert DeNiro's former wife.

Unless of course you think the stupidity is not keeping his racism quiet.

Reform Party have their first MP. and a good one at that

Two main parties both have their noses in the trough, and their donors

Labour must loving this.

Reform carving off a wad of Tory voters has got to be good new for Labour.

30p Anderson a good MP - opinions differ.

I wasn't making an argument, I was merely stating a fact with the tweet as evidence.  If you think facts are foolish I cannot help you there.

I think the UK is upset that they are not in the international news like the US.

Are you suggesting that I am a racist?

I know that we disagree fundamentally on a lot of matters, but to suggest (as it rather seems) that I am signing off on his racism is going a bit far!

Not necessarily good news [sic]  for Labour, since a lot of that "wad" (IMO) are going to be Red Wall former labourites who will not be returning to Labour for one very good reason: the policies of both major parties are not easily distinguishable.  If in addition several Tory M.P.s who are presently representing Red Wall constituencies were to defect to Reform in the next six months, it would become much more difficult for Labour to have a working majority.

I agree 100%.

The man, Frank Hester, is nothing more than a feejit. Just because his company has won a lot of contracts from the NHS, and he bankrolls the Tory party, does not mean to say that he is smart and intelligent.

In fact this goes goes to show that just because you are rich and have a lot of money, does not mean to say that you are smart and intelligent. Quite often it means the opposite as he has proved.

He said if five years ago .

Also Diane Abbot had stated that Irish people were not subject to racism because they aren't Black , for she she got suspended from the Labour party for .

Frank Hester is an Irish immigrant who was a victim of racism when he came to the UK as a child and that could explain his animosity towards Abbot

One (racist) does not necessarily exclude the other (idiot). I would say that pretty much all racists are idiots, actually.

Oooooooooh, the racist cards are being waved, still makes a change from the Hamas, Israeli, Russian and refugee cards. So Mr. Hester doesn't think Ms Abbot is a good ambassador for black women, he's probably right but who cares, there are surely better PC issues around to get your knickers in a twist about.

Diane Abbott is tainted for at least two very good reasons:

1. she is utterly thick;

2. she was once the girlfriend of Jeremy Corbyn.

However:

#1 is sufficient to absolve her of many sins.

#2 - she was too young to know any better....

No, I’m not calling you a racist.

But let’s not cloud the fact Frank Hester is.
