Steve Harley: Cockney Rebel Lead Singer Dies at 73

Featured Replies

Steve Harley, the frontman of British glam rock band Cockney Rebel, died Sunday at 73 from cancer.

Harley’s family said Sunday that he had “passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side.” Harley said late last year he was being treated for “a nasty cancer.”

His best known song was Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me), which went to number one on the UK charts in 1975.

I admit to rating Judy Teen as being better IMHO, I never managed to find a decent video of an original 1970's performance

EDIT apparently the BBC wiped the edition of TOTP where this was performed

The first '45' I ever bought was 'Sebastian' by Cockney Rebel, way back in early 1973.  Steve was a very talented musician.
