Sky train to Sala Dang. Sky Train runs down Silom.

Silom to Convent Rd. Turn Left

Convent Rd to Sathorn Nua Rd. Turn Left.

Go to walk over bridge to cross Sathorn Nua and Sathorn Tai.

Cross over to Sathorn Tai and continue in the same direction to Soi Suan Phlu.  Turn Right.

Continue down Soi Suan Phlu for quite a distance to the Immigrations building which is on the left side of the street.

You may want to get a taxi because it's about a 15 or 20 minute walk from  the Sky Train but many drivers don't understand the English word "Immigrantions".  Maybe showing them your passport may help.

Note:  The spellings of the street names I used is from the guide book.  Street signs may vary slightly.

I FORGOT TO ANSWER THE SECOND PART OF YOUR QUESTION -

To extend your visa you need:

1.  Your passport

2.  500 baht

3.  copy of passport pages that have your picture and Thai   visa and and I think Entry card.

4.  Photo.

It's very easy to just go across the street from the immigration office to get the copies and photo.  Prices are cheap.

You will have to fill out a form and sign all copies.

Bring a pen because they don't have them there.

They do have glue to glue photo to form.

Hi Richard,

Maybe you have already extended your Visa?

Maybe you can put your Advice here for the Future.

In my opinion if you are going to use a Taxi,

I would go to Chong Nonsi Sky Train (BTS) Station,

and walk (short) to Sathorn Road - and take a taxi

from outside Standard Chartered Bank.

I would also suggest you tell the Taxi Driver

"Soi Suan Phlu" (The name of the road) but

which most of them will translate to

"Immigration" and drop you there.

If you are starting your Journey from Sukhumvit

you mind find it easier to take a Taxi from there

and not much more expensive than the Sky Train + Taxi.

(you have to change Trains at Siam)

I also support LRimmler's use of the services

of the PhotCopy shops for Polariod photos

and copies - they are very helpful.

and of course know what you need.

Sorry for the late response

Do tell us how you got on.

Roger

The easiest way I have found to get to the immigration office is to take the 62 bus from Wireless Road or Sukhumvit at a point near Wireless.  Tell the ticket lady on the bus where you want to go and she will tell you when you get there.

Taxi drivers never  know where the immigration office is.  My dictionary has

IMMIGRATION DEPARTMENT

"grohm! (l)droo-ut kohn! (f)kow! meu-ung"

if you want to try and say that.  I have showed them the words in Thai and they are still at a loss.
